I'm going to say Cadillac has their heads up their a@@es on how they price vehicles. 53k for the base 4 cylinder turbo CT6, a CTS 4 cylinder turbo with a couple of options is the same price. All I see this doing is cannibalizing CTS sales, because I'd much rather have the larger, newer CT6 for similar money vs the smaller CTS.

Just make the twin turbo V6 standard(or even better give us the LS3 out of the Corvette) and make the base price start at a few thousand more than a decked out twin turbo v6 CTS.

This is just my opinion and there is certainly room for disagreement.

I was just on Cadillac's website, 4 cylinder turbo cars are 54k, V6 is 56k, twin turbo V6 starts at 65k. So that's still cheaper(base price wise) than an A7 and way less than an A8 which is 81k starting out(still more $$$ than 46k for a cheapie base A6). A Lexus LS460(which I think will get crossed shopped with the Cadillac and is its closest competitor) is $72k.

That seemed to be the case in May, where CTS sales, 2016 vs 2015 dropped by almost exactly the number of CT6 sales. However. in June, CT6 continued a ramp up in sales while the CTS June 2016 vs June 2015 were equal.

No doubt there are too many sedans in the Cadillac lineup in that $50-$70K range with the CTS, XTS and now CT6.

I like this guy's channel.

The CT6 is certainly a nice car but is in no way remarkable. I've sat in a couple ranging from base models to Platinums and all them just feel like they're 90% of the way there. Nice materials, sure, but there are some subtle mishaps in build quality and a lot of the buttons in the cabin are a cheaper grade of plastic from the GM parts bin. The screens in the back are completely covered in cheap looking plastic and the screens look like LCD desktops from 2005. Car & Driver just released a review today of the XT5 that hinted at the same issues that I noticed in the CT6s and the XT5s I checked out.

Aside from the extra space there is no reason to buy one over the fantastic new E-class or the 5-series and A6 which have held up very well over the years. The refreshed GS is a real looker and has a great interior too.

If you equip the CT6 to the same level as a base LS460, it gets to about $69,000. Click a few more option boxes and it is into the $73,000 range. The cheapest car in local stock (a 4 cyl) is $62,000.

Apples and oranges. In my opinion, even the current LS is no longer a match to the new S-Class. LS is crying for upgrades, from top to bottom, inside and out.

In badge, the LS still belongs with the S/7/A8, but not really in price, features and engines.

IMO, the LS and CT6 slot in between a 5/7 series, or A6/8 or E class/S class. The S-Class and 7 series moved up a little in status.

I think the new S moved up a lot. It would have to be something really special to top that. We'll see what the next LS will offer.

Thats just the point, the CT6 really isn't a match even to the LS as old as it is. Its substantially better finished inside, substantially more refined on the road.

I don't agree that the new 7 has really moved up in status. I just drove both of them last week and the S Class has a significant panache advantage. The new 7 is nice, but it doesn't feel appreciably more special than the other entrants in the segment. The S Class does.

I want to see someone top the S class. They really outdid themselves with that car.
