It wouldn't slam the trans in park. It would apply the brake and keep the car from moving until you realize that the car is not in park.

True, but IMO automatic application of brakes would make more sense.

Ha ha... I used to do that when I was learning to park my low rider closest to the sidewalk without rubbing the front bumper lip into it.
