Default Driving to and parking in NYC for 1 week a good idea?

Alright so I know there are exotics all over NYC and my 3IS is nothing compared to those, but I take good care of my cars and always park in safe places, so I'm a bit worried.

So this Friday we're driving from Montreal to NYC, to sleep one night in a hotel on the 45th and Broadway, then head to the port on Saturday morning to park the car and embark for a 1 week cruise.

Now we do have the option to take my parents car, but it's smaller so mine would be more comfortable.

Would you be worried about parking your car in such conditions?

Aren't your parents worried about their car too?

Nothing will happen to your car in NYC......i park my M3 all the time.

Find a block that is one way and quiet.

There is also a great park & lock place which is indoors on 42nd st between 8 and 9th ave.

You'll be fine, just tell the garage attendant that you will be parking for the whole week, and make sure you check your car when you get it back.

No, in fact they suggested taking their car before I even mentionned being worried about mine.

Drive your parents car. You'll have more fun not being worried about yours.

Maybe park in New Jersey and take a train or bus over. Parking for a week in Manhattan is going to be a several hundred dollar proposition provided you put it in a lot. As for parking on the street, when I was up there I noticed every single car parked on the street had damage on their bumpers, even new cars that were maybe a year old. A lot of them had ugly aftermarket bumper guards on them, kind of like this:

I wouldn't park in the street in NYC unless its an old beater that you don't give 2 ****s about.

the only thing you need to worry about is the $300/hr parking rates in NYC

Does the cruise ship line and/or the Port of NY offer a (secure) parking facility (parking garage) especially for people who are headed off on a cruise? Look into that.

Park the car in Queens or Brooklyn, then take the train back to city. Just watch out for alternate side parking regulations.

When I've driven into in a non-rental car NYC I've always parked in a garage and tipped the attendant some $$.

I too take care of car, so I wouldn't park my car out there for extended period of time. Cuz I don't want the worry to ruin my trip/vacation.
Just drive a car you don't care, or rent one.
And isn't parking at NYC is about the same as rental car fee?

Okay, my OP wasn't clear.

We're leaving the car overnight at the hotel's parking (65$ valet, I guess it's one of those parking lots where they stack/squeeze cars?), then we're taking it to the port where it's gonna stay 7 days. It's 30$ per day over there. So no the car won't be in the street or in a hourly priced parking. Everyone who takes the same ship leaves their car in the same parking lot, so no one should be driving around my car and pulling in/out the parking lot for one week... I just don't know how safe that parking is against theft and vandalism, or how accessible it is to outsiders. And I also don't know how much love they will show my car at that hotel parking.

If its a self park indoor lot, you are good to go. Just make sure not to leave anything valuable in it.
