my idiot friend overheating his P71 Crown Vic doing donuts
it's an 2003 ex-NJ trooper car that he just bought for $2000, so of course it would be dumb to try and make it last awhile lol

Dumb-***.
Looks to me like he was on glare ice (or, if not ice, some kind of wet surface), so that, at least, minimized wear on the tires and driveline. With ice, it also would have been pretty cold outside, too, so that also would have been working against overheating. Last, of course, police-spec cars usually have heavy-duty radiators/cooling-systems (needed, of course, for high-speed pursuits), so he must have really abused the hell out of that engine.

Exactly. I'm sure that car wasn't in 100% tip top shape before he started beating the hell out of it.
I've done some pretty stupid stuff in my 1992 SC300/5 speed when it was time to replace tires. But the main thing is, if you are going to do stupid drifts, burnouts, etc, get your speed up. Spinning the tires at slow speeds, doing brake stands, clutch dumps is a lot harder on the drivetrain than just spinning tires at 15-30 mph while sliding sideways, then keeping the momentum and smoke going, it avoids that inital hard shock on the drivetrain.
Best way to show off is to just find a really huge empty parking lot, flick the car left or right a bit while in first gear at 20 to 25mph(auto or manual), and simutaniously stand on the gas. If you do it right, you can look like a warlord in a 120hp Miata and put on a nice smoke show. I've found that fooling around in my SC300, is once you get the tires spinning, is you stay hard on that throttle, even if you lose the drift, you can still come out of the corner with the tires on fire, spinning, engine turning 5000rpm, still putting on that smoke show doing a straight line. Keep in mind I've only done this twice, when I needed new tires, but if you keep the rpms up in this car its kind of crazy how much smoke you can make with a 225hp engine.
