Damn, that looks very good. Love the proportions and stance of it. It almost seems like a Macan / F-Type competitor.

We should know a bit more tomorrow evening in Beijing. A 400hp Red Sport version would be nice

I don't think this is a CUV. That would be the QX30. I think this must be the replacement for the FX (or QX something), which is much larger than a CUV.

Wonder when this is being produced? I'm trading for an SUV in January and so far the Audi SQ5 is the only vehicle on my list. I would try this Infiniti if it is available.

Usually Infiniti makes solid-looking concepts but I don't like this one. The front, like all Infinitis, is too reminiscent of a fish or platypus.

To be honest, I was at a loss as to what this concept was for in the teasers. Just so everyone knows, Shiro Nakamura avidly (in a veiled, political manner) gushed about the "next" QX50 in October 2014 and its gifted designer that he stole from Renault.

This was several months before the MY2016 QX50 facelift made its debut, a car I was falsely made to believe by insiders and my father, was an "evolutionary redesign".

That QX50 facelift was designed as early as 2012 and a running prototype exactly 3 years ago, yet it barely surfaced last year (autumn 2015) as a MY2016. For a meager facelift!

Nakamura-san's October 2014 statements were not reporting on the facelift due the very next year, but a newly designed second generation QX50 that was 3 years out (late 2017).

Doing the math and having prior knowledge, the EX/QX50 replacement entered its design freeze in 2014, ahead of 2017 intro as a MY2018. The original MY2008 EX proposal was approved in late 2004, so it's obviously very old.

Nowadays Nissan is taking a very long time with production model development, so rather than 24 months, they've upped that post-design period to 30-42 months (including delays).

I have already spelled out so many times that factor, so the QX Sport Inspiration Concept did not "inspire" anything.

Infiniti unveiled a lightly updated QX70 (S51) for the 2017 model year, which will go on sale early this July. The next QX70 (chassis code S52) itself has been frozen (final prod. body).

The redesigned QX70 (S52) has been rumoured by lazy journalists to be on target for late 2017. This is NOT the case.

An insider said that the QX70 redesign is roughly 24 months out, that to dismiss any MY2018 rumours. It will be a MY2019 in mid-late 2018 at best or Q1 2019 MY2020 at worst.

Now to the QX Sport Inspiration Concept, I believed this previews the next QX50, which was designed 2 years ago and due next year.

Many believe it's the next QX70 due its size and partly the false belief it is due next year. The size factor might make that true, but the launch timetable theory negates that.

The Q80 Inspiration Concept was shown well in advance, but will arrive parallel to the S52 QX70 in 2018.

The Q60 Concept might have been shown merely 18 months ahead of MY2017 Q60 production launch, but if this is for the S52 QX70, you will not see the final product roadbound for roughly 2.5 to 3 years.

Bear in mind, that the Pathfinder and QX60 redesigns were approved nearly 4 months ago (early January) and have been in the design freezing process for the same amount of time, which will conclude in July. The CUV cousins come roughly 2.5 years afterward for MY2019.

Everyone also keeps whining how the Americanized Patrol in the MY2017 Armada will be kept for 5-6 years and will ruin the QX80's prestige. Once again not even realising Nissan has already designed their Y62/Z62 full size replacements and the new Armada is just a last minute stop gap to quickly consolidate platforms.

Again, you have an idea where they are going with future product. They suffered a serious lull in development, further exacerbated by Johan de Nysschen's handiwork.

It is very much a CUV. I know that some people interpret that acronym as crossover utility vehicle or compact utility vehicle. I usually consider it the former.

Looks fantastic all around! If it keeps some of it's shape, it's a winner inside and out.

Wife and I both had infiniti's, mine was 08 g37s coupe and she had 2011 g37 sedan. only thing they had was power, everything else fell below the mark. Either back at dealer for something not working or just super noisy rides. Oh wait, the audio was ok....
I just dont trust this brand but this new concept looks nice

As I thought (and now quietly confirmed), this is the next QX50 in light disguise, which will go on sale late next year as a MY2018.

I can see where this was the work of a Renault designer (too angular for me).

It is rather too small to be the next QX70 and too early for it to be shown. One might see a concept for the QX70 late this year or in 2017.

I haven't seen the final product (obviously), but I know they're done with it in this aspect of development and there will be no adapting concept cues to the production model at this point. It's a done deal. This isn't LF-LC to LC500.

Like the Q60 Concept, it is an early preview. I got to see the MY2017 production Q60 in late 2014, roughly 6 weeks before the Q60 Concept was shown (1/2015) and 1 year before the coupe was leaked in spy shots (11/2015).

I was told the CV37 coupe was finished in late '13, then the concept came next. I figure it is the same story in this case, plus what we are seeing is a new user interface different from that of the incumbent InTouch in the V37 Q50/Q60 cars.

interesting... someone i know has a 2011 g37 coupe and it's been perfect except for some paint that's chipped off a plastic trim piece on one of the doors. great fun car to drive.

I had a 2010 G37x that was perfect as well. There's a reason they were Consumer Reports recommended vehicles and loved by enthusiast rags alike. Refinement wasn't up to par with Lexus/Germans though.
