This Toyota Land Cruiser is Also a Total Rock Crawler

The following video of an 80-series Toyota Land Cruiser makes it clear that it is capable of climbing up the "Staircase" formation on the Slick Rock Trail in Northern California.

I wonder if he had diff lockers in the front and rear???

One thing I love about the Land Cruiser is it gets the size right. Yes its big, but its not so wide to be useless off road like a Hummer that wouldn't have fit through those trees. Same thing with the wheelbase, approach/departure angles, length, etc.

The new Land Cruiser has pretty poor ground clearance, and approach and departure angles. Sad that it has come to that.

Let's be honest here. Anybody that does this type of "trail" as a weekend hobby is not going to be running a stock LC. They pretty much all remove the OEM bumpers and run at least a minor lift kit.

I have not looked at the newer Land Cruisers but have the LX570 and I would dare you to tell me THAT has poor ground clearance on it's high setting. Actually show me one SUV, especially a full size SUV, that has better clearance that that. Where are you getting your facts from?

Look at that closely....
I am over 6 ft. and I can barely reach to grab the roof rack on one of those on that setting. Wanna talk about chitty ground clearance, look at Escalade, Navigator, etc. or all the other joke of a product American suv's.

Although I actually like the Land Cruiser, it is a pretty sad off-roader these days.

The 1.18 mark it gets stuck

An interesting question, at least as I see it, is............who in their right mind would take a new 90-100K Lexus LX, with a mirror-like paint job and super-plush interior leather and materials, out in conditions off-road which would leave it looking like a tornado had hit it? Even the competing Range Rover, which, if anything, is an even better off-roader than the LX (though far less reliable), is used mostly for conventional driving and errands on hard pavement.

Jill, do you know what being stuck means? You will hit undercarriage components regardless if it's a stock SUV, or one that has a big lift, that's the nature of it. You don't know what was beneath that truck where it hit a suspension component. It might look like it was nothing from that angle, but all it takes is one boulder that sticks up to nick something underneath. So what's the big deal again? Do you also want to post the million videos of modded Wranglers that hit something underneath and say they suck offroading?

Pardon me. But bottoming out is the same as getting stuck.

Did you watch the video? or listen to what he said? He said the Land Cruiser bottomed out.

I still love the Land Cruiser, but the video is pretty clear.

I watched that video long before you posted it. Getting stuck means you can't move forward or backward. Is that what happened Jill? You are not very bright are you?

Why are getting so personal? The guy says it bottomed out at the beginning.

I still like the LC and would get one. But for all the praise it gets, it should be noted when it does not.
