Default 2017 C-Class Cabriolet Revealed

Mercedes has taken the wraps off the new C Class Cabriolet.
Set to battle the Audi A4 and BMW 4 Series Convertibles, the C Class Cabriolet is based on the C Class Coupe and features a diamond studded grille and LED headlights. The model also has chrome beltline trim, LED taillights, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Of course, the biggest difference is a power retractable soft top that is available in four different colors and can be opened or closed in less than 20 seconds at speeds up to 31 miles per hour.

The interior echoes the C Class Coupe but it features a standard Airscarf neck-level heating system and optional heat-reflecting leather seats. The model also has split folding rear seats and matte silver chrome controls for the retractable soft top.

In the United States, two different engines will be available. The entry-level C300 Cabriolet has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 241 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. It is connected to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission which can be paired to an optional 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.3 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 130 mph.

Buyers looking for something more powerful can opt for the Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet which has a biturbo 3.0-liter V6 engine that develops 362 hp and 384 lb-ft of torque. It is connected to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission and a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system which enables the car to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds before hitting a limited top speed of 155 mph.

The C Class Cabriolet will go on sale in the United States this summer and it will be joined by the Mercedes-AMG C43 Cabriolet this fall.

This segment just got more crowded, if I were in the market for a small vert this would be my choice but I tent to be biased :-D

I like it a lot but I'm also eager to see what Audi brings to the market with the next gen A5. The BMW 4-series vert doesn't drive well, imo.

Lexus could learn a thing or two about interior design from MB. This small premium droptop still has cubby holes for stuff, especially that big compartment in front of the gear lever and Comand controller, whereas the larger GS and ES have a swoopy dash with nowhere to put stuff.

Not sure if I like it or not. From the pictures the rear 3/4 view looks kind of off proportionally. Probably need to see one in person to really decide if I like it.

BTW, if Lexus corporate is listening, this makes 4 convertible models that Mercedes sells in the United States, vs the zero you currently sell once the IS C is done this year.
