Respectfully disagree.
Generally story and emotion are often subsumed by sappy tearful looks, nostalgia and a strange re-telling of history.
What does the R8 commercial tell its audience? That a bunch of guys went to the moon in the 1960's and played golf and collected rocks. Kinda like going to Phoenix.
No real action or excitement. But hey if you like an ole silver haired guy lookin at pictures and jumping into a car like it's some sort of space machine, have at it

If the car is marketed to 50+ year old folks, then Bowie absolutely is the right music.
The young guy with the fob is there because old folks don't want to be perceived as looking old.

young people not liking the r8 commercial is probably because they can't afford one and are voting for bernie sanders and thus resent anyone who can.

Wired ranks it third after the Avocado commercial and the Jeff Goldblum apartments spot. I don't like the apartments commercial that much although the cgi is pretty good. Love the Avocado bit though.
