The 75K Question - What "toy" car would you buy new or used?

This post is funny because doge owns a new C63. Also the black series is a degree more hard edged than a regular W205 C63 if that's what the OP is after.

It must be tough to be in your shoes. I agree with gengar. You have a few things that are hard to mix up. To make your life easy, I think GS-F is your best shot, maybe a bit more but not much. I too like the RC F but once I sit inside, I can't seem to accept it. I guess I'm not a car guy enough. Other cars on your list are all nice choices. I like the Vette too but it doesn't fit me () My buddy recently got a Cayman and he really loves it. F Type is nice. I saw it at an auto show and have seen it a few times on the road and really like it. It's a toy car, so just get what you want most. Everything else is secondary.

To be fair, ZR-1's were being offered at 12-15k under MSRP by dealers by about two years after initial release. One of my driving buddies when i was in Texas said he picked up his second for 20k under. So the depreciation is somewhat less than what it appears from MSRP.
For me personally, it'd be a 987 Cayman Black Series or a 997.2 GTS. Neither satisfies OP's first criteria of rarity/styling though.
The other car I scratched immediately was the Evora S, which can be bought new in the OP's price range (and I have to imagine discounts are even deeper now that the newer 400 is out). But it lacks refinement and luxury and the back seats are useless.

The Jag is a solid recommendation, too, IMO.

Definitely a rare car, but the aspects that make it an "R" probably make the refinement/luxury unacceptable to the OP.
The other crazy thing is that almost all the Cayman R weight savings are from deletes, but nearly all the ones I've seen pop up on Porsche's CPO site are fully optioned out with no deletes. At that point then a fully optioned Cayman R is just a Black Edition with door pull straps, which is even more pathetic. (The Cayman Black Edition got the Cayman R exhaust, so they both make the boosted 330hp.)

You have 3 choices (in no particular order):
1) Porsche Boxster S/Cayman S
2) BMW ///M4
3) Jaguar F-type
Which car suits your lifestyle and preferences is your choice. I love all three personally, and have driven the first two several times.

I personally wouldn't recommend the RS5 because the current A5 is old and a new bodystyle is on the horizon now that the A4 has been redesigned. I recently sat in the A5 and it reminded me of Audis from the mid-00s to early '10s.

Exactly the 2 cars I have been eyeballing as good as the bang for the buck is of the new Corvette the reliability ratings are in the toilet with consumer reports. A few different magazine cars have grenaded engines and had many other issues(read car and drivers long term test)

Also OP- if you decide to go the brand-new route for a Jaguar F-type be sure to shop around. They're not exactly flying off the lots so dealers are willing to come down on price.

As far as the engines grenading, well it was covered under warranty. Still pretty scary though.

Guys, thanks for all your responses. I took an objective approach on this endeavour checking out several cars but in the end, there's nothing objective about spending this kind of money on a car I don't need

That's awesome!
I never saw one of those in person, even when I was at the dealership to pick up my car. However, a few days after I got my car, one zoomed past me on the freeway and I noticed the Lexus lights, but didn't immediately recognize it, but it looked sweet driving past me and especially from behind.
Rare indeed!
