An entire generation of internet-racers are forming their opinions on cars based solely on what Randy Pobst says about them on a track...and now - they're building cars that way too.

He said M6
Kudos to Lexus for building the car and keeping the design this close to the concept
They just continue to confound me with their life in a vacuum philosophy.
No new motor, no AWD, no vert, ****ty rear seat room. Kinda like taking a class in how not to compete with your reference target (BMW 6 series).
Going to be a nice reward to executives in the sunbelt though.

Motor was new last year. What do they have to do, each brand new engine each year?
700-800lbs less than S550.
This is not 6 series competitor, it is S coupe competitor. Even though it is much better design with unique interior not taken from LS, so no cost cutting here.
BMW and Audi have nothing to compete with this right now.

The 6-series coupe will likely line up in price to this car as well.

Demographically I agree the S class coupe customer is in play for the LC
The point against it are that MB itself points to the Bentley coupe for its target (big, heavy and a nice back seat for your family and other rich friends)
The LC back seat will be ok for your Neiman Marcus bags
The motor thing is associated with the flagship nature of the car. You say flagship I want a new innovative mill to power it. The tranny sounds nice but that is still a cup half full deal
My sense is they needed to keep the car on some real world schedule and this is the first version they could get to market with some other iterations to follow.
The no AWD is what kills me the most as you gotta have that for Boston, New York, Chicago, Seattle markets where weather happens.

Mini LFA indeed, however, the structure is even more stiff than it. I bet it weighs around 2+ tons based on acceleration numbers quoted by Lexus. Engine is a bit of a rehash, but it will probably drive amazing, but won't be Randy Pobst cup of tea since he doesnt seem to like anything Lexus, Toyota or Scion.

Lexus Champion
This is the standard LC. I think that needs to be recognized. This is the standard LC. There is no LC F, yet. That means the 'base' model has the other Lexus F-car's engine. That is a definite step up in terms of performance from the other standard (non F) Lexus models.

Needs allwheel drive carbon steering wheel newer tails please

It is quite funny how people can't seem to understand this. someone complains about needs a new motor. This is the base version right now for this car. The motor is a year old and what is the best package for the RCF is, is the low package for this car. The F version of this car is rumored to be that new turbo v8 pushing roughly 600hp to compete with the M6. Again this is a 6 series competitor not a M6 series

They did a great job in terms of keeping this as close to the concept as possible. I see this as the base as most mentioned. I'm sure the LC F will come in a year or 2. Like Aikio Toyoda said at the end, this is only the beginning. So I wouldn't compare this to the M6 just yet.
But with Mr. Toyoda being at Detroit and Toyota having their conference tomorrow, maybe an updated FT-1 concept?
