I'd argue Hyundai's is the worst, the plate of plastic doesn't incorporate the grille design into it. I'd prefer the Chrysler execution over the Sonata.




Audi's all-new Q7 uses two bulbs similar to Chrysler, positioned almost like fog lamps at the lower corners of the bumper.

I think the name Pacifica easily trumps Town and Country. One is modern and flowing, while the other is old-fashioned, a mouthful, and dated. Enough time as gone by where most people won't even remember the failed Pacifica from a decade ago. In fact, I bet just about zero people remember it. It was that lackluster.

If they wanted a new name, thats fine...but they should have chosen a NEW name. Chrysler invented the minivan with the Caravan, Voyager and Town & Country. Now the minivan that started the minivan is gone. I think thats short sighted, and it shows that Fiat really doesn't understand the US market.

The name is modern and flowing. Not the past Pacifica- which no one remembers or talks about.

Do you really think it was just Fiat people calling the shots here? We passed that point long ago. You must not have noticed how many people who grew up in Chrysler have been promoted by Marchionne into very influential positions.

What's particularly interesting is I always hear "Chrysler invented the minivan" and "Chrysler minivan" in posts. This tells me the name Town & Country itself wasn't key to carrying on the Chrysler minivan banner. Pacifica sounds far more upscale and modern than Town & Country and I only guess it was doing well enough in consumer clinics where it got a green light.

As far as picking a name that has been used before is concerned...that is just one of Chrysler's many odd habits. They've retired and brought back names of several vehicles over the years. Hell, if you really want to go there you should know there was a Dodge Daytona Pacifica that was made in the 80's.

All dead cars or brands, which is my point. I'm glad T&C is gone.

You laugh, but the Atlantic was the name of a Chrysler concept. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if their upcoming crossover was called Atlantic, although I'm placing bets on Aspen.

Call it Volare. There is an old name that has not been recycled.

My Dad owned a Volare wagon with the ubiquitous 318 V8. When gas prices got too high in the early 1980s, we tried to sell it privately, putting it in the Classifieds section of the local newspaper. The guy at the paper heard "Ferrari" instead of "Volare" so we got so many calls about our one-of-a-kind Ferrari Wagon.
