Default Exhaust Comparison Video: LFA, Stradale, LP 550-2, Z06, F430...

Hi everyone. Recently did a small shoot with a few friends, including James and Phillip here on CL. Took some pictures and recorded engine sound of the cars, comparing the different exhaust notes. Taken recently, as well as from last year and in '08. Hope you enjoy

The LFA and Porsche Carerra GT are the best sounding cars overall for me. They both howl at full speed, mainly induction noise from their V10s with exhaust noise being secondary. You won't get the howl when revving while stationary.

Exactly, the engine must be under load to sound right , its like the difference between screaming right out or actually sing notes. This is in my opinion the best LFA sound captured so far:

Yep. I agree with you there

I hate engine revving. The best sound for exhaust is on take off/acceleration.

I remember seeing that video a while back, definitely did a nice job capturing the LFA sound from all perspective.

The exhaust from those cars are two of my favorites for sure, I think for a lot of car people I know as well.

About revving while stationary, that is true. During the shoot with the LFA, I actually had plans for acceleration shots later that day at a different location. Unfortunately, during the photo shoot, we were in a location not allowed to be and had a visit from the highway patrol, ultimately cutting everything a bit short.

LFA sounds like a V10 Formula 1 car from a few years ago.

Also, there is nothing like the sound of a healthy big block Chevrolet with a lopey cam and no exhaust:

I hope there was some editing done here and these cars weren't revved to hell two seconds after turning them on.

Of course, all clips were shorten to keep the footage direct and to-the-point. If you look carefully, you can see/hear the transitions. The owners are very meticulous with their cars.
