Question is how in the hell did he manage to put that truck straight on those planks when the dock is not as wide as the truck?

While your point about pressure and door opening is valid, I'm pretty sure it was open more so that he could hear what the spotters were saying, not sure "smart" is in the equation here.

I don't believe those "planks" are made from wood. The vehicle looks kind of like a Tacoma Double cab which means its around 18 Ft long, making the planks somewhere around 24 to 26 ft long. Hard for me to believe a wood plank 24 ft long would hold a truck and driver that weighs around 4600 lbs. Im not even sure I would feel safe walking across a plank that long to get into the ship never mind drive a truck across them. Interesting to watch though
