Mitsubishi Makes a Jet Plane

Not that odd or unusual about Mitsubishi in the aviation market. They've been there before with the MU-2 which was the hotrod of the day in the 1970's and 80's. 300 kts!
Very slippery quick airplane that required a lot of attention (pretty much needed two pilots to fly it). Get ice on its wings and miscalculate... problems. Come in too hot on the approach and you were going to go around rather than try to slam it on the ground. But get it to altitude and you were one quick ship.
This market will prove interesting for Mitusbishi.
Embraer owns it big time with a backlog of orders. If you've travelled on a regional flight you've been in an E-jet or a CRJ. And the Embraer's seem to be pilot and passenger faves.
Mitsu might have had something if oil prices weren't down in the basement or if they had done this about 10 years ago, but now most operators will want discounts.

Corrected for you. The CRJ is a Bombardier product, and it, arguably, started the whole regional jet craze.
But from the Canadian airline perspective, the Embraer E-jets are much more visible than the Bombardier (home-grown product!) CRJs. The CRJs, though, are very visible with the American feeder airlines (small, regional airlines affiliated with, and feed the mainline airlines).

CRJ's were sexy back then. Not no more. Embraer has the backlog of orders. Don't lecture people by waving the canuck flag. It doesn't suit you.

Powered by Honda does not apply to the jet as they do not build the mills for those. More like airframe by Honda.
Mitsubishi also makes good canned tuna.
I agree with the point about Embraer. I love to fly their jets, roomy and comfy.

They also make elevators, escalators, displays at sports venues and they've also supply alternators, starters and HVAC compressors.

Their cars made for the Japanese Domestic Market are actually really good mechanically. Their parts last much longer than an equivalent Toyota part i nmy experience. Example - ac compressors, alternators, power steering pump, water pump, etc. Mechanically they are really good, however their design is questionable.

Just so people know what these look like.
ERJ190, MRJ and then then the biggest CRJ, the 1000. In the narrow body Boeing- Airbus competition... Bombardier gambled with the C series and it nearly sunk the company.
So if Mitsubishi can hit the market with some pricing or some sort of leaseback program, it might be interesting. The 50 seat craze that Bombardier started is done.
