Interior is basic but looks well done with small details making big difference. Seats are nice too.

And yeah, it does have glass roof. Click the image to get bigger version.

that would be way too front heavy for such a light car. This is supposedly 100lbs lighter than Yaris with 1.0l 3cly engine.

I do hope that they put either 1.2l turbo or that they have 1.5l turbo also prepared for this.. but I am doubtful, since all their engineers like N/A "purity". Looking at tach, it goes to 7000 rpm, so it is definetly NA engine, 1.5l with 130hp per rumors.

1.2l turbo will likely have 15% more torque overall, and all of it starting from 1500 rpm... while this will have 130hp but you will have to rev to 6800 or so to get it. Then again, it is FR sports car, so we should not mind the revving. as long as it is not a hog at bottom.

My bro had Yaris 1.8 TS, which had 1.8l engine for 130hp (Corolla engine in 2nd gen Yaris). That engine had enough torque at the bottom and overall it was pretty fast.. 1.5l will certainly have less torque at 2000rpm, no matter what they do to it but lets hope they go all out and add D4S - that would give it enough oomph at the bottom too.

However, Yaris TS 1.8l was 500lbs heavier than this thing!

If the weight and power are correct, then we should expect it to hit 0-60 in 7.x seconds, which isnt bad at all actually, even for the US.

Heading the lineup will be the highly anticipated S-FR sports car. Standing for Small Front Engine, Rear-Drive, it’s 2+2 sports car that Toyota says will be its entry-level sports coupe. Toyota is remaining tight-lipped on performance, but we have it on good authority that the coupe will tip the scales at about 980kg and be powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine generating around 130bhp, putting it right in Mazda MX-5 territory. In fact, the S-FR is almost identical in size and curb weight to the mini Mazda.

The S-FR is actually the lower end of a three-pronged sports car lineup that will include the 86 directly above it and the new Toyota-BMW co-developed Supra successor above that. Expected to be priced around £13,000 the S-FR will go on sale in early 2017 – and it could be sold globally including the UK.

If only it was possible for Toyota to make such a cheap car for Europe... I would be all over it.

Well it might be a Scion if it makes it here.

Kinda looks like like the offspring of a TVR and Veloster IMO

by that time, FR-S might become more powerful and lighter at the same time...

who knows if the FR-S will have a place in the lineup by then... this model is supposedly gonna be available in 2017 and I'm guessing it'll be a MY2018 car.

As far as MY designations go, a MY2017 GT86/BRZ/FR-S would have had a 5-year global life cycle.

I absolutely LOVE this. It is the direction Toyota needs to keep pushing in, and it's a glimmer of hope that TMC is still interested in making lightweight, fun-to-drive cars.

A pure 2-seater variant would shave even more weight.
