Performance be hanged, with the extra 25 ponies, I wonder if the Shelby's EcoBoost the Mustang has finally entered the rarefied territory of sub-5 mpg cars?

That would be kind of awesome. But not terribly surprising, considering the worst fuel economy I've ever gotten in a rental car was a Chevy Equinox with a 2.4L NA 4-banger. 14.9mpg woot! By putting it in eco mode and manually shifting so that 0-60 was measured in minutes, I was able to bring that up to 16.7.
I definitely don't understand putting a package on a 4-cylinder (turbo or no) "pony car" that costs almost as much as the car did in the first place. Especially when the V8 alternative is cheaper, faster, sounds better, and undoubtedly will get better mileage.

well it definitely doesn't make any sense in the u.s., but i guess shelby sees possible demand in other parts of the world, possibly where gas and big engine taxes are high.
