Default Official Rolls Royce Dawn

This is the Rolls-Royce Dawn, a four-seater convertible based on the Ghost and Wraith, and described by Rolls as “the sexiest Rolls-Royce ever built.”

The company is paying homage to the Silver Dawn — a name applied to 28 vehicles from 1950 to 1954 — with the introduction of the Rolls-Royce Dawn convertible. The super luxurious convertible features a “Mandarin” interior beneath “Midnight Sapphire” bodywork.

And while the design seems like a convertible Wraith at a glance, nearly 80 percent of the Dawn’s body panels are new. The doors carry over, but the front is pulled forward by 2.1 inches compared to the Wraith and the grille is recessed by 1.7 inches. The new ultra-luxury vehicle is “the quietest open-top car ever made,” the company said in a news release. The roof can be operated “in total silence” in 22 seconds at up to 50 km/h, or about 31mph.

The 5,644-pound vehicle boasts 563 horsepower and 575 pound-foot of torque from a 6.6 liter V12 engine, with a top speed of 155 miles per hour. It can go from 0 to 160 in 4.9 seconds. Combined fuel economy in the city and highway is 19.9 miles per gallon.

They are one of the VERY few automakers that still makes a luxury car today the way I remember luxury cars...big, heavy, long-wheelbase, large-displacement V8 or V12 engine, rear drive, plenty of HP/torque, hood ornament, pillow-soft ride, cushy-comfy seats, stretch-out room, whisper-quiet, acres of wood-paneling, etc......All that's missing from the ones today are the whitewall tires and vinyl roofs.

But only if they remove the run flat tires. My friends Ghost still produce tire noise just little better than my car.

Gorgeous and love the launch colors. In typical British tradition the rear is a non-event...personally I think it would've benefited from a more regal look.

Yes! I found that incredibly disappointing, but my ride in a Ghost II indicated there's been some improvement.

Yeah, I'm surprised that a car like that would have run-flats. RR's typically weigh more than 5000 lbs. empty....that's a lot of pork for those run-flat sidewalls to support.

My question is, how the hell is is so fast? Is that a typo?

And how on Earth does it get 20mpg with that weight and engine size? Seems pretty unbelievable.

Basically, from Mercedes-AMG levels of torque. Rolls-Royce, for years, did not publish specific HP/torque figures, merely listing them as "adequate". But that, of course, changed with German ownership.

Efficient transmission gearing. If you do the tranny right, you will have both short gears for acceleration and tall gears for low-RPM crusing. I also believe (but am not totally sure of) that some RR models also use cylinder-deactivation in the engine when extra power is not needed.

I think it can be that fast because it has a BMW mill that is likely to be underrated

The mileage is from putt put driving and it has overdrive

Sorry guys. Apart for the awesome exterior heft, which does make you look at it on the road, modern exterior styling is ho-hum at best (for me). The interior coachworks however are amazing. Hopefully this car hasn't picked too much from the BMW parts bin for anyone to notice like previous models.

FAR from a looker, but still looks better than the Phantom coupe ......

Those orange seats looks horrifying on this car to me, red or burgundy would suit it better ......
