wow. mosquito spray totally kills your car paint.

I didn't even know that until I saw an article on Yahoo today, and I've been using deet spray because of the asian tiger mosquitoes in my area.

It even says so on the label, which I never read completely.

Don't let deet anywhere near your car. Even a fine mist that lands on your car can cause some damage.

Try this and see if it will take off the damaged top layer and restore the underlying shine. It is very good for many different kinds of top-layer damage and marks on the paint. While it won't work for everything, I've successfully used it for many different kinds of surface (not deep) paint problems. Make sure you use the scratch/haze removing version shown here, and not the more abrasive rubbing compound.

It's inexpensive, too.....generally runs $4-5 a bottle.

DEET damage is something no polish or car products can fix.

Apparently it makes the clear coat look like chicken pox, or outright strips the paint.
