That doesnt take into account for 2015 Camry's and Corollas that are still on the lots everywhere. SUV's are hot and almost all midsize sedans are showing decreases YTD. Not surprised.

Omission of 300h across RWD lineup in US really baffles me. They would not sell in huge numbers but they would sell no matter what. IS300h is a perfect replacement for IS250 and considering how IS200t is not really any quicker why not have benefit of much better gas mileage.
at these gas prices, RC300h doesnt make sense in the USA... If they do convertible, they can do 2k per month.

RC200t is a lot quicker vehicle than RC300h though, not to mention that it would likely be some 3k cheaper. Same goes for IS300h.

Why do you think that IS200t isnt quicker than IS250? It should be a lot quicker and a lot better engine overall.

Agree, I just dont see why some would want that in the US. Offer it in the US just to offer it? An RC300h with 200hp at the same price as a RC350 with 306? I don't think thats a good fit with our market right now. Would rather the 200t as well.

i bet is300h is WAY more expensive to build than is200t and even more expensive than is250. that hybrid gear don't come cheap.

Of course 200t is going to be much better than 250. All 250 ever got was the refinement of six cylinders.

Do you know what was the MSRP of GS250 in Germany? I didn't pay attention when it was on sale. GS300h is like 45K which is very reasonable (for those who are OK with the base trim)

It doesn't make sense to have a 4 door 4 Series when there is a 4 door 3 Series. It doesn't make sense to have BMW to make a convertible M4 either but options/choices are a good thing.

So Lexus should offer the IS 300h, RC 300h and GS 300h. More choices is a good thing. I'd also like to see a convertible RC F to compete with the convertible M4...

assume you mean the 4 gran coupe so it makes sense in that they put coupes in the 4 series, whether 2 or 4 doors.

a convertible sports rocket is not about making sense.

with gas at around $2 they would sell in minuscule numbers so i don't agree.

i wouldn't. it's a 'bulky' design already without much room. with a folding roof it would likely get really awkward in design. lexus should use a bigger platform for a convertible unless it's one made for the job.

Thank goodness you don't work for Lexus as someone in charge of product planning otherwise we wouldn't have the current Lexus models we have now.

It was something like 12k cheaper than GS450h which was only other thing available at the time. So still cheaper than 300h I think. Only reason people got it was because they wanted GS and could not afford GS450h. In my country due to emissions and taxes, price difference was 25k. Truly horrible engine for that vehicle, i cant believe it got rated well in some Euro mags that panned GS450h.

In Germany, Lexus barely sells and GS is in general too conservative for Lexus Europe where they have to stun and awe to get sales. As to the pricing, look at it this way - chepest GS300h you will find is Executive with nav for 48k after discounts. Cheapest A6 is 37k with 2.0tdi. Old XF is 33k now, new one 37k, E class is 33k, 520d is 32k.

So GS cant sell well there unless it gets crazy styling thats a hit or if they give 30% discounts for base vehicle which Lexus will never do since it is not their core market.

p.s. when it comes to Europe, 2.0t is likely for Russia mostly... due to taxes linked to consumption, i doubt it will get many sales in Western Europe.

Lexus could also put the GS 450h drivetrain into the RC and bring us the RC 450h. Lexus needs to expand all lines of each model just like how BMW does and does it well...
