TOYOTA INTRODUCES UPDATED JDM-SPEC 2016 LAND CRUISER

Up front, the eight-year old Cruiser gets a bolder look characterized by an oversized grille with horizontal slats that stretch far into a pair of redesigned headlights. The modifications go beyond the simple mid-cycle refresh, and the hood, the fenders and the bumper are new as well.

Out back, the Land Cruiser benefits from revised LED tail lamps and an updated bumper. Additional alloy wheel designs and two new paint colors called Copper Brown and Onyx Blue, respectively, round out the major exterior updates.

Buyers can order the Cruiser with a less rugged-looking front fascia that features a deeper bumper with a thin strip of chrome trim. The less aggressive front end was primarily designed for high-volume markets such as the Middle East, and it will most likely not be offered in the United States.

The interior updates are more minor. They include a new-look instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch LCD screen, a refreshed four-spoke steering wheel and the latest generation of Toyota's touch screen-based infotainment system.

In Japan, the Land Cruiser is available with a long list of electronic driving aids including a pre-collision warning system with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams and a lane departure warning system. Whether the U.S.-spec model will gain similar features is up in the air.

Toyota has not made any major mechanical modifications.

The updated 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser is scheduled to go on sale in Japan and in a few other markets before the end of the year. The updates described above only apply to overseas models, and details about the U.S.-spec version haven't been published yet.

Not that it matters, but for the first time I have a clear preference for the LX570.

There was update to engines - smaller consumption for V8 and more power, less consumption for V8 diesel as well.

More info:
https://toyota.pressroom.com.au/pres...navSectionID=2

It has more leather, better interior materials, 9" nav screen, etc. Hopefully it all looks nice in person.

I have extensive time in V8 diesel and I always thought it was too de-contented version of LX, not in mechanical but in interior quality and exterior looks.

The US specs info has been released.

I like what I see. So much nicer and classier looking than the LX.

As I speak, though (and I just checked again), the 2016 Land Cruiser specs have not been posted on Toyota's web site, so the info you have might not be official.

Looks great! Front grille and headlights are modern and clean without oddball styling.

They sell Land Cruisers in other parts of the world with such options as manual transmissions, cloth seats, rubber floors, economy minded diesel engines, steel wheels, etc. They're practical workhorses in other parts of the world, not an 80k plaything for the rich.

And personally I hate electronic park brakes(and foot ones as well). You always pull off forgetting they're on, then you have to stop, put your foot on the brake for a solid two seconds and push the little finicky button and wait for it to release. Nothing was ever wrong with the big lever IMO.
