There is a whole new generation to go after now (late Generation X, Generation Y/Millennials and Generation Z)
Or Lexus could ignore market research and do what a small niche of past Lexus owners (and those that own old used Lexus) want and in the process setting themselves up for a major brand failure in the coming years.

I agree and I'm confident Toyota could easily push 4-500 hp with the 2.0L turbo engine if they wanted to. However, with a 5.0L naturally aspirated V8, that definitely sounds more appealing to me. I'd even like the 4.6L v8 in it. It would also change the lexus nomenclature. If the 200t did produce 4-500hp from factory, how would lexus name it? 200

If 2.0L turbo makes 500hp from factory, it would be called GS-F. LOL

Im biased but the current F10 5 Series in Msport trim is as perfect as you can get and the body style will still look great 10 yrs from now.

The GS looks good from most angles but the new front is way too cartoonish and looks out of place for its target market.

The new Genesis is a great example of a well executed design that will look great even 10yrs from now. It has a commanding prescence in person.
I think the S6 and the E-Class look the best in this segment.

I hate that band-aid patch between the headlights and the Nike swoosh.

lol, not every vehicle is supposed to be AMG.

So far, in the NX, 2.0t is winning combination... no reason to thing it will be worse in GS/IS, considering it now has 8AT.

That's not what I'm saying. I just wanted point out that 2.0L turbo in GLA/CLA 45 AMG is still worthy of the AMG name because of its performance. That engine is probably one of the best performing 2.0L turbo ever mated with an awesome dual clutch tranny. I test drove it when I bought my GLA250.

Theoretically speaking, yes. If tuners and other manufacturers are able to squeeze that much out of a 2.0L, I have no doubt in my mind of that the engineering team at Toyota are fully capable and have the know how of producing a 4-500 hp 2.0 turbo-it's just a matter of why and where the managers and higher ups allocate their resources and a 500 hp powerplant wasn't one of them at this time.

As for their V8's, I'm very very pleased with the 467 hp they are at right now with the naturally aspirated 5.0L v8. I'm sure they could squeeze another 33 hp easily out of it with a simple ECU reflash, changing parameters in the air/fuel matrix as they have the tools and source code and reflash their ECU's.

Supercharging or going turbo with their 4.6L or 5.0L will easily allow them to surpass 500-600 hp easily. It's just a matter of tuning, modifying that ECU code to support the turbo/supercharger, reprogramming the ECU, dynos, testing, verification, road testing, etc etc, which require resources.

Well, you're comparing CLA 45 AMG 2.0L powerplant to a 2.0L Nuetured Toyo/Lex one.. If the Lexus was putting out similar numbers I wouldn't say a word..

Have they released photos of the F-sport or Hybrid models yet?

So like Lexus to release photos of the lowest end model first, the Germans wouldn't show anything but the highest end version of their cars in their PR photos. Marketing fail.
