i wish they did less subtle changes inside and out, but overall looks fine. Sure tablet could be better and not stuck on but it is not a big deal. I would rather them do little bit more to the interior although the seats do make all the difference.

love it all except the stuck on screen fail. it's just a terrible design trend. it would only make sense if it were just a docking connector so the 'tablet' could be upgraded.

The table may look gaudy in pictures but it works really well from the drivers seat.

Every one wants a big screen, it makes things easier to read. I love the way the dash looks and how the controls feel and I don't want it ruined by a big ol screen. The aluminum toggle switches / hvac controls feel great and I they would have to go in lieu of a screen .

I recently got in contact with some Mercedes designers about this actually, as I was surprised about a year ago when the W213 E-class was getting a non-tablet screen. The great thing about the tablet screen is it increases overall front visibility and lends itself to a younger, more tech driven vibe in the interior. The hooded screen, however, is considered more formal which is why you'll see it on the big sedans.

The next GLS will probably have an embedded screen to align it with the S-class. What's interesting is you're going to see Mercedes move to a very large continuous screen instead of two screens in the more expensive models.
