02 LS 202k miles for $7k or 01 w 83k for $12,500???
Undecided....the 02 seems to be priced better....trade value, but the 01 is low miles in exc shape but they are wanting full blown retail.....any feedback appreciated. A little concerned w buying w over 200k miles. On a tight budget. Both are the Ultra lux packages. Which seems to be the better value/concerns/ etc.???

If you're on a tight budget, I wouldn't buy either car.
Not kidding, these cars can be VERY expensive to maintain, especially UL package cars with air suspension, etc. Unless you are very mechanically inclined yourself, you need to be able to put your hands on a couple K readily to be able to handle things when they come up.
If you must have one, I would get the 01. Very reliable cars, but any car over 200k has done most of the miles its going to do in its life. Its cheap because theres a very thin market of people that would buy any car over 200k miles. The 01 is very low mileage for its age.
Seriously though, I would explore an easier, less expensive car though if the budget is tight.

Get a 5 year old Honda or Toyota.

I can't understand the argument to get either of these cars. For $12,500 your 1/2 way or 3/4 ways to getting a brand new car.
An 01 or 02 is an old car and I can't see the justification for doing it.

Neither, Get the facelifted model from 05/06. Comes with the best headlight projectors ever made, LED taillights, and get the best UL package. You can definitely find one for your price range if you do your research!

$7k is a lot of money for a 16yr old car with 200k miles and $12k is a lot of money for a 15yr old car and with such low miles its prob driven on local streets a lot. Now is there a reason why you wouldn't want to spend the $12k on a used camry or accord? You can find some decent ES's with that budget. Even $7k can get you a decent Camry to use as beater until you can afford a new(er) car or the $12k will buy you a car you can use for the next 7-10 yrs with regular standard maintenance.

Guys I did get the 02 ls with the higher mileage, because it had great service and i was able to get it for 6500 out the door....fees, taxes etc. It was in excellent shape other than the miles.....I was looking for an 05-06 but could not find a good deal under 13k. Im happy with the purchase, sharp car and fully serviced and drives out perfect....just high mileage, bu thats why i paid only 5950 for an 02ls430 that is in exc shape!

I love the birds-eye maple wood trim on the 01-03 UL LS430.
You should head on over to the LS430 forum for more exposure and content related.
When the air suspension ever goes out, you can opt to replace it with regular shocks/springs instead of the oem air suspension. Much cheaper.

Congrats, but pay close attention to the air suspension.
Both of my previous LS430 (2001 and 2004 ) were UL, and both air suspension failed before 100K miles.
The air shock is around 1k each just for the part.
Good thing is you can actually fit the standard suspension from regular LS430 when it failed.
