Default Early Lexus Commercials

I had uploaded four to five Lexus advertisements back in July-August 2007, but Team *** (former Lexus marketing agency) took them down via claims and I was scared of putting my channel's longevity at risk (going on 8 years now). I haven't had access to the VHS tapes from 1992-93, as they were lost at my parents' primary Texas residence. I recently went through an external hard drive, containing files from an older XP computer of mine and found the original captures.

These were recorded by my father back then (90+hr on-call physician), during our first year in the US and extracted from the 1992 Summer Olympics and 1993 music award shows. I believe I might have some more from the UK, during the 1990-92 period for the LS400, but such tapes are very far away and have not been captured yet.

Please excuse the rudimentary picture quality, as Youtube's resolution was different back in 2007 and I cannot recapture them for more than 480p right now.

Here's another good one......the ad that really made the LS400. That was back in the days when comfort and refinement, at Lexus, was king.

I like this guy's voice, BTW.........IMO it beats all of the ones that came after him.

Lexus LS400 - Champagne Glasses - Commercial - YouTube
Yes, I grew up with Jim Sloyan as the "voice of Lexus" and is what always comes to mind when I imagine a future Lexus model introduction to this day. There was a 1990 LS400 commercial where they spoke of how the LS400's airbag terminal was plated in gold (all cars have this though), with a dramatic deployment of it. I cannot find it and have not been able to for years.

Thanks. I had forgotten his name, but his smooth voice and demeanor are unmistakable.

(I've heard he's doing ads now for Mitsubishi, of all carmakers, but I personally haven't seen any)

That ES300 commercial is great. 5th gen ES and even the current have a little more cabin/road noise from my experience than say the bank vault 4th generation.

The 1990 ad for the ES250 had a starting price of US$21,850. The 1992 ES300 has a starting price of US$26,550. That's quite the price jump.

The last car in recent memory that had a price jump that large was the 2005 3.5RL to 2006 RL in Canada ($10,000 base price increase)

Great memories. The announcer's voice truly had a big part in laying down the law for Lexus.
What really stood out to me back in 1990 was a 20-20-type show on tv that showed what today's businessman on the move goes through during a typical day. They found some guy and following him around in his new LS, while he made business calls on the then-new car phone and dealt with all kinds of fast-paced business decisions. That was like a turning point in society, technology, and status. Lexus was right there when it happened.

Nice! I once came across a website that featured all former Lexus commercials linked from Youtube for the most part, and it had PDFs of the brocheres. I made my own collage in the garage haha, but I don't recall the site name :/

I wish this was still Lexus' direction instead of the "F-Sport" style for the newer gen.
