Great looking car there, I like that bold face and the wheel option.
As for reliability, the 1st gen CX-5 had a problem with catastrophic engine failure. Not sure what years it affected, but resale on a used CX-5 is brutal. I doubt that you'll encounter any problems like that since the 2nd gen model uses a totally different motor, and with that one exception, Mazda does build very reliable cars.

Very nice! Would have easily been my choice as well.
I really like the latest crop of Mazdas, If I were shopping in those segments they would be my choices. They look and feel so much more premium and interesting than the competition.

Thoughts so far 800ish kms in.
Exterior
Love the styling of this car, Mazda have been doing a great job with Kodo and this update is further proof. The new LED signatures and 19'' matte look rims make it look like a car that is significantly more expensive.
Interior
Another standout space. Lots of soft touch areas, nice contrasting colors. It just looks premium and is loaded with all the tech goodies LDW, radar cruise, blindspot warning etc...
Drive
Solid feel from the wheel, but you can definitely tell this isn't a luxury car in terms of go. Even the more powerful 2.5 feels a bit sluggish and needs to be revved when joining the highway etc... Something I'll just have to live with. Ride is on the firmer side, but still acceptable and wind noise is not all noticeable. Gas mileage has already been great and I expect it to get even better once the engine is fully broken in.
Major complaints
The aforementioned sluggishness, smaller rear window than I'm used to, and the Infotainment system can be a bit slow at times.
Conclusion
I can't believe the quality of mainstream cars nowadays. You can have style, quality and tech for entry level luxury prices and the CX-5 is a shining example of this. Can't wait to put some more miles on it and take it to the mountains.
