DEARBORN, Mich., July 1, 2015 – Strong consumer demand for its newest products pushed Ford Motor Company total U.S. June sales 2 percent higher, to 225,647 vehicles sold.

“Strong retail momentum continues building for our newest vehicles – including F-150, Mustang, Edge, and now Explorer,” said Mark LaNeve, Ford vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service. “The Ford brand’s average transaction prices have increased $2,700 versus a year ago – more than triple the industry average – while our incentives are down, showing how much customers value our investment in new vehicles with the latest technologies.”

F-Series average transaction prices reached an all-time record in June, with average transaction prices moving above $44,000 per truck – $3,600 higher than last year. The all-new F-150 is turning twice as fast on dealer lots than the industry average for half-ton pickups, as Ford continues building dealer stocks.

Ford brand SUV sales were up 10 percent year over year, producing the best June sales results since 2002 – with 64,885 vehicles sold. Sales of the new Explorer are off to a fast start, with a total of 20,377 sold, an increase of 30 percent versus a year ago. Sales of the all-new Edge increased 30 percent in June versus last year, with 12,587 vehicles sold. Ford van sales totaling 21,419 vehicles represent a 31 percent increase relative to last year, for the best June results since 1999. During the first half of the year, van sales totaled 109,783 vehicles – a 26 percent increase and our best first half van sales performance since 1988. The all-new Transit, with sales of 12,134 vans last month, is driving Ford’s segment growth, with its strongest-ever sales month.

GM Earns Highest June Retail Market Share Since 2011

2015-07-01

*Chevrolet retail sales up 9 percent, surpassing Ford Division
*Chevrolet total pickup deliveries climb 33 percent; Silverado outsells F-Series on a retail basis
*Best June ever for Chevrolet crossovers
*GMC retail sales up 12 percent; total pickup sales up 37 percent
*Commercial deliveries up for 20th consecutive month

DETROIT – Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers in the United States delivered 259,353 vehicles in June 2015. Retail deliveries climbed 7 percent year over year, and they were up more than the industry for the third month in a row. The drivers were stronger Cadillac sales, a 12 percent gain at GMC and a 9 percent increase at Chevrolet. Together, they helped make the month General Motors’ (NYSE: GM) best June for retail deliveries since 2007 and its best June for retail market share since 2011.
GM increased its sales to commercial customers, and state and local government fleets, as well. Rental deliveries, which tend to be less profitable than retail sales, were down 45 percent as a result of GM’s previously announced plan. Total fleet sales in June were down 29 percent year over year, or 21,366 units. GM’s total sales were down 3 percent.

“We just wrapped up the U.S. auto industry’s best six months in a decade, driven by strong demand for pickups and crossovers,” said Kurt McNeil, GM’s U.S. vice president of Sales Operations. “People feel good about their jobs and the direction the economy as a whole is taking, so the second half of the year should be strong too, and that’s especially good news for Chevrolet and GMC, brands that have very broad truck and crossover portfolios.”

Industry sales continue to exceed expectations. GM estimates that the seasonally adjusted annual selling rate (SAAR) for light vehicles in June was 17.3 million units.

During the first half of 2015, GM gained retail market share in both the crossover and truck segments, according to J.D. Power PIN estimates. GM’s crossover share is 12.6 percent, up 0.4 percentage points compared to a year ago. GM’s truck, van and SUV share is 38.9 percent, up 2.1 percentage points.

Most of the truck market share gain comes from the ongoing success of the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra full-size pickups, which were redesigned for the 2014 model year. Since calendar year 2013, GM’s retail share of the segment has grown 0.9 percentage points to 38 percent, according to PIN.

Market share and average transaction prices (ATPs) were particularly strong in the second quarter of 2015. According to PIN, GM’s retail share in the segment was up 2.8 points year over year to 40.2 percent. ATPs were up almost $1,000 per unit, and incentives were flat.

I would not be the one to comment on sales increases at the future Fiateral Motors (when they have sales decreases, product discontinuations and recalls, those events make me smile)

I never think about the Rogue

The RAV-4 and CRV seem to garner the attention but 22k Rogues moving off the lots in a month is meaningful

Why hasen't V Dub benefitted from the SUV/CUV market shift?

Volkswagen basically got caught with their pants down. The Tiguan is largely uncompetitive, they have no Explorer/Highlander/Pilot alternative, and they have no subcompact SUV.

American Honda Motor Co., Inc. today reported June 2015 Honda and Acura vehicle sales of 134,397 units, an increase of 4.2 percent. Acura sedans led AHM's June increase, gaining 107.9 percent on sales of 5,878. Acura truck sales also increased, rising 15.2 percent with sales of 9,649 vehicles for a new June record. Honda trucks gained 18 percent on sales of 57,667, also a record for June, while Honda car sales were down 11.3 percent with 61,203 units sold. Total Honda brand sales reached 118,870 for a gain of 1 percent.

Honda
Honda trucks had a record month of June, gaining 18 percent. Honda's newest entry in the light truck market—the HR-V—continues to grab consumer attention, with sales topping 7,700 units in June, easily exceeding its stellar debut last month. The best-selling CR-V also enjoyed a record June and despite the strong consumer appetite for trucks, Honda's Accord and Civic continued strong sales while the Honda Fit scorched the sales charts yet again. Odyssey also gained ground in June.
The best-selling CR-V posted record June sales, realizing a 8.5 percent increase on sales of 28,349 vehicles.
Overall light truck sales remain on a record pace with Odyssey posting a 6.5 percent increase in June with sales of 11,621, supporting the record sales of CR-V and strong start for HR-V while the all-new 2016 Pilot enters the market.
Sales of the versatile Fit jumped 26.3 percent, with 4,669 vehicles sold last month, part of the strong passenger car lineup that included combined sales of nearly 60,000 units for Civic and Accord.
"With the introduction of the 2016 Pilot late last month, our SUV lineup is the strongest it has ever been, and it was already in very good shape," said Jeff Conrad, Honda Division senior vice president and general manager. "The next several months will be exciting as we begin to renew and expand our car lineup."

Acura
Acura sedans stepped into the sales limelight in June, continuing recent momentum and doubling last year's June sedan sales total on the strength of TLX and ILX. Overall Acura sales totaled 15,527, lifting the brand 38.6 percent in June. Not to be outdone, Acura's RDX captured yet another sales record in June while MDX remained in high demand, though somewhat capacity constrained. Overall, Acura truck sales were up 15.2 percent with sales of 9,649 vehicles.
TLX sales continued to gain momentum, nearly reaching 4,000 units again.
ILX took a sharp upward turn with a record June performance, gaining 79.1 percent on sales of 1,662. Acura sedan sales totaled 5,878 in June, a 107.9 percent increase.
The recently refreshed RDX continued to resonate strongly with customers, up 45.1 percent on sales of 5,056 for its best June on record.
"It is exciting to see Acura sedans enjoy success in the face of a market where light trucks have been dominating," said Mike Accavitti, Acura Division senior vice president and general manager. "We're pleased by the record month for the refreshed RDX, but the growing momentum of the TLX and ILX is key to the future of the Acura brand."

Bit

If Lexus were to do a real F vehicle in the Luxury Utility Vehicle space as they refer to it, what would it be (I.e. Would they use a platform other than what they are currently using)?

I can kind of see this coming based on where sales have gone in therms of favoring the ?UV space.
