i am having love and hate relationship... looks good in action and in some pics - like for instance that side interior pic, but in others it looks overly complicated and interior too simplistic.

looking forward to see midspec 2.0 diesel.

Got it, thanks gents.

Of course, like the 159 line it replaces, the Giulia will have more pedestrian variants with various petrol and diesel engines for less extraordinary mortals hehe.

P.S.
That said, I'm surprised at the new Turbo V6 they're using.

It makes more power than the V6 used in the Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte. Hot damn
Always loved the 159. This looks more mainstream while having that Italian 'flair'

I was just thinking about the horsepower too in the larger Ghibli from its 3.0TT V6 345 and 404 hp respectively. Maybe the Ghibli will get a more powerful GTS version down the line. Either way this Giulia is smaller so it shouldn't be cross-shopped too often. If anything this could be a stand-in for a baby Maserati sedan

I don't mind the 'simple' look though that might mean things are more crammed and complicated in the infotainment center. Of course it could be FCA's UConnect which is relatively easy to use. Some of the bezels are a little low grade. I'll have to wait for better pictures to surface. Exciting car nonetheless, I look forward to comparison tests and with any luck, seeing more Alfas on the the streets in the US once again.

Love at first sight. This is jaw dropping sexy. First sedan that has done that to me in a couple years. The specs make it that much more appetizing. I'm blown.

After looking at the close ups and the interior shots (fabulous), I fear this is gonna be expennnnsive.

The Alfa 8C was priced beyond the moon ($300K range).

When I see all that CF inside, and knowing how Ferrari gougifies for that stuff, I gotta believe this car as we see it will be North of $100K.

Absolutely not. Remember this is just part 1 of a product offensive. This car will likely top out a little over $80k just like the C63 S, M3, and ATS-V. The upcoming 5-series competitor might kiss $100k though. FCA is trying to get a solid amount of volume out of the Alfa Romeo brand.

Tango

I like your logic but Alfa is already into the $70k space with the crap box 4C with the wheezer mini motor.

This car looks very special with respect to the details and that usually translates into high price.

From what I have seen so far Alfa is being introduced as a cool/special/limited supply sub brand and then at some point Fiat will look to build volume with their cheaper FWD based cars.

If they do a 5 series car, won't they be stepping all over the smaller Maserati while they are at it?

Am I the only one who thinks "meh"? The 156 and 159 were beautiful designs that pushed the edge of styling whereas this Giulia looks so derivative. The lights are straight from a BMW 1 series (or a 147), the shield grille and air intakes are from the old Giulia, while the back rips off Maserati. The interior is more promising but I'm disappointed that it took Alfa this long to make such a boring design.

The 4C was always intended as limited production vehicle and the carbon tub jacked the price way up. FCA has blatantly stated that their future depends on Alfa building volume through its upcoming sedans and SUV's. The Giulia is not supposed to be a limited supply vehicle. I can see how you came to that conclusion but you haven't seen all the lower-level turbo I4 versions of the Giulia.

Again, this Giulia is going straight on with the 3-series while being a bit bigger. The bigger sedan will be priced alongside the 5-series. Will it step on the Maserati Ghibli? It will overlap to a degree, but remember the Ghibli starts at $69,800 so there's plenty of room between them when it comes to starting MSRP. This further drives home my point that these are priced to generate some sales.

As far as Fiat is concerned, they will not be a volume brand. You can read this article to see that the 500, 500X, 500L, and 125 Spider will be it for the brand: http://www.autonews.com/article/2015...oadster-in-u-s

The plan is to amortize the cost of the new Giorgio platform by putting a less-exotic version of it under future Dodge models and possibly the next Jeep GC/Wagoneer.

Thanks Tango

I am looking forward to seeing and hearing some of these.

I work near Lake Forest Sports Cars and expect them to have Alfas to go with their Ferrari and Maserati offerings.

Jealous. You'll probably see one in the flesh before I do. We'll be counting on you to post some pics once they hit the street!

Interior looks kind of cheap, like they grabbed parts from an American car's scrap pile, but the specs sound good. Definitely not on the same level as BMW or Mercedes quality-wise. Slapping carbon fiber everywhere doesn't make it nice.
