This update breaths life into the LX and to me shows that Lexus is committed to keeping it in the lineup...why spend all the $$$ (or Yen) on this significant update just to discontinue the nameplate next generation? I think this redesign for the LC/LX will last 5 years before they come out with a true next generation model..

I don't think they could combine the LC and the Sequoia. Sequoia is a large SUV with the emphasis on interior space and towing while the LC is a serious offroad vehicle. The LC is sold globally and the sequoia is too big for that market. I think if the sequoia sells reasonably well they will keep that as a distinct model for the USA (and few other countries it is sold in) only as its development costs are probably not too high considering most of the parts are shared with the Tundra. I could see them dropping the LC in the USA and keeping the LX as the top Lexus SUV.

Lexus is developing a large 3 row crossover that will have more passenger room...something more along the lines of the Mercedes GL than the Escalade. Escalade actually does not have much more room than the LX, and the ESV model is too large for most people. I hope they build a top notch 3 row crossover and keep the LX for people that want the capabilities and luxury of the LX.

I do have to say, I do like the current size of the LX and I also like the stats such as GVWR, towimg and payload, as the LX is one tough SUV, but it would just sell much better in NA if they got the size right.

^ Toyota could do like GM, sell the Land Cruiser and LX in short and long lengths. It wouldn't cost very much to increase the wheelbase and put more rear overhang on the larger one, that's what GM does. It would make the larger one more likely to get high centered or drag the rear bumper off road, but there is no free lunch.
I doubt Toyota would do that though, their management is very conservative when it comes to changing designs that sell. I know the Land Cruiser and LX don't sell well in this country, but for the markets they were designed for(middle east) they have a 2/3rds market share, I doubt Toyota is going to change the formula one bit.

Whole point of TPS 2.0 (TNGA) is that they want to be able to produce different models much more efficiently than previously... thats why we are seeing more options in new models.
Still, reality is that LX will continue to be similar to today and built for Arabian markets where they sell not only great, but increasingly greater every year.
But GX who knows.... TX is coming and will satisfy a lot of GX market.

My guess is that Toyota will enlarge the LC and bit and reduce the Sequoia a spec and that will be the next gen LC/Seq/LX. I hope they do that.

So GX sells well only in the USA... where Lexus is to reveal TX. So I wonder how would TX and GX work out together in the market.
