Looks much better now, I take back my criticisms. Toyota products often look much better than speculative renders, no matter what it seems. Not so much with other companies in some respects. The rear fascia is definitely an improvement.
Thank you for posting this, I love seeing the gradual evolution between the years. One see how much the 100 evolved into the 200. It is very clear during 2004, that Toyota designers were very focused on tying certain attributes of the then already finalised 2006 model year 100-Series and the upcoming LC200 (finishing the design process in 2004).
I believe that the 300-Series design is being somewhat previewed by this 2016 200-Series, especially with that new grille. Something tells me the headlights just might be thinner like the Kluger/Highlander. That might launch in late 2017-early 2019 at this rate, but even these changes are so moderate, a full 4 years will not suffice like the XF40 III LS. This could be a 3-year run.
Forty-two months of production development on a state-of-the-art 300-Series is very long (2014/15 - 2018), but not far-fetched. Concept development of the 300-Series is probably done with already, possibly starting a few years ago and making a total of 6-7 years (2011/12 to 2017/18).
And it still looks beautiful. Such a timeless design, for something styled mostly in 1993 and just a few gradual touch-ups in 2000 (MY2003) and late 2003-early 2004 (MY2006). For those puzzled a bit, I am particular about design approval dates, as that is when is when the creative works of designers come together and most of these final decisions are made on production appearance.

Photoshop. Interior is also from the current model.
As for the exterior, how accurate is this rendering remains to be the question?
A big spindle is coming but if the LX does end up looking like this photoshop then i will be disappointed. Even if they give it a very nice interior, it would be such a shame for that interior to be wasted on something that looks like that. Current model front end looks so much better, to me anyway.

This is barely above the changes to the LX470 for the 2006 model year, which by the time that came out in May 2005, the LX570 design had already been frozen (for January 2008 market launch) and internal prototype testing was gearing up. These changes are not on the level of the LS second facelift, so more than a 3-year run past 2018 is unlikely. Only unforeseen 300 development delays will make for that.
I have to wonder if the LX will still get a next generation as the 300? The LX450d is coming, but nothing about a hybrid as previously stated.

It looks horrid, but I will wait for more legitimate photography. The Land Cruiser update looks better than the renders, so hopefully the same will be true in this case. As one can see though, this isn't a full model change. Hoovey doubted that suggestion previously, despite what either his GM or a higher-up told him.
