Mercedes-Benz S550 upgrades?
Hey all, I just ordered a S class 550 long. I was wondering if their were any sort of performance upgrades that could be done. Specifically to the motor/turbos to get a bit more power?

Yup- both Brabus and Renntech have top-notch upgrades available. You'll pay though- an intermediate ECU upgrade from Renntech (510hp/585lb ft torque) costs ~$2500. Not sure what prices are like in Japan but it'll be around that price for sure.

what happened to the S63?

I really hate to admit this on a Lexus forum, but the S-Class is in a league of its own. I have traded the LS600 for the 550.
I still have the S63, it is the best car I have had by far. I traded the daily driver LS for the S550.
Thanks, will look into it.

Believe me, once the kids get a bit older and if business is still good then, I certainly want to get something in the two seat-er class. (Almost did a few years back)

Good heavens. Are they serious on that S65 AMG price (222K)? I knew that the S65 wasn't Chump-Change, and well into six figures, but it has really hit the roof.....didn't know it had gotten that high. It's substantially more expensive now than the Mercedes-Maybach.
i know that some might justify the price (and I'm not knocking them if they want to spend it on an S65...it's their money), but consider that a price tag like that will buy THREE Lexus LS460s.....one of the most well-respected luxury cars in the business.

If I even remotely had that kind of money to spend on a car, I dont know if I would choose the 65amg. For the price of two S550s, it is hard to justify that purchase.

The 65amg is equipped with almost all highend options as standard kit. There are only a few more things you can add for customization. I would venture a guess that the 65 has about 20K in options in the base price over than 63. Of course, it is still an absurd amount of money but the delta is smaller than meets the eye.
