RC chassis is a little Frankenstein. Front end is L10 4GS, mid-section is XE20 IS C (2IS) and rear end is XE30 IS (3IS). Since the latter three were conceived before the RC's existence, hopefully a platform to underpin a future 5GS, 4IS and RC and RC convertible would be lighter

I've sampled the 3.6L V6 in a couple of Cadillacs and other GM products. I found it smooth and quiet in all normal driving (4000 RPM and below)....but, of course, didn't red-line it to see how buzzy it was at the limit. Some enthusiast-reviewers will pan a regular piston engine if it doesn't spin electric-motor or rotary-engine-smooth, even at redline.
Yup- I was actually surprised at how well the Q50 suppressed the coarse sound of the VQ37.

not surprised at the result, on looks alone.

I would rather have them embrace weight savings with combination of some serious hybrid powertrain (not the same ol' setup that's been in use for over ten years now)

Actually, what Lexus offers is anything but a "me too" car. The exterior and interior are totally different from any other offerings in the market. I respect that, and I think the exterior design is sporty, although it is not for me. At least they broke "out of the box" with the look of the car. I applaude them for that. What they need is to up the ante in the engine department because Lexus has proven they can build great chassis/steering combos. Add some HP and torque and they could win the comparo.

The real winner in this article is the ATS and its handling balance. Because GM/Cadillac saddled it with a lackluster 3.6, it lost first spot. Everything else about it says German.
If it was me, I would have the ATS over the Audi and Lexus.
The RC350? Nice looking car but hate the grill. Japanese designers trying too hard. The Caddy looks downright delicious although I'm no fan of its grill either.
Audi? Nice but not worth the premium.

So you wouldn't be ecstatic about a blown IS-F?
FI is a winning recipe this day and age.
It seems to be working pretty well for BMW/Audi/MB/GM.

Just like with turbos Toyota will be among last manufacturers to incorporate supercapacitors as they become cheaper even though they have them right now. Just like they did nothing about PHEV either.
