why does someone need to be "the Clarkson" of the show?

Agreed, we don't need The Three Stooges On Wheels. I stopped watching Top Gear because it was more about stupid stunts that three English blokes could get away with rather than being about cars. It was sad seeing the show become a parody of itself over the past few years. I think Hammond is the best reviewer of the three and he deserves another chance; May and that Clarkson monkey deserve the boot

I don't think BBC has officially announced yet these 3 will be new Top Gear hosts.

James May, IMO, did write one good column, in each publication of TOP GEAR magazine, that explained, in simple language, the physics, chemistry, G-forces, kinetic energy, and basic science of what makes auto components work and how vehicles drive and steer. In each publication, he would focus on a different component or driving subject. He did it very well, and in a manner that even those without a high school education could understand. At the end of each column, a question would be printed: How did James do this month?..........Does he deserve a pint (beer or ale, of course) for his efforts?
