Default Ward's Auto 10 Best Interiors for 2015

Not sure I agree with all of their choices, but a fun read nonetheless.

The most expensive car that made the cut this year is the $65,000 Mercedes-Benz C400, while the cheapest is the $21,590 Honda Fit EX-L. Ward’s said it was excited to find a wide range of exemplary interiors across price ranges. “In this year’s competition, we saw a lot of evidence that automakers are thinking creatively about interiors and putting a lot of design horsepower into not just luxury vehicles, but pickups, minivans and family sedans,” said editor-in-chief Drew Winter.

I guess each to his own, but I don't see how the Jeep Renegade's interior, even with the Limited trim model, can be on a 10-best list. I recently checked out several different Renegades (static-reviews, without test-drives), and the interior materials, with a couple of nice small exceptions here and there, were about as bottom-rent as any I've seen in a modern vehicle.

i3 made the list

Most iterations have very flimsy/rough plastics especially Giga and Mega World trims. You pretty much need to upgrade to the Tera World for anything decent. The Wool Cloth is

To pick these standout cabins, Ward’s examined 42 interiors from all-new or significantly redesigned vehicles and selected the top 10 based on scores in various categories. Criteria included material quality, ergonomics, comfort, fit-and-finish, and value. Testers also used the various infotainment interfaces to gauge the user-friendliness of these driver information systems. Finally, the most heavily weighted category was aesthetics and design harmony, which accounts for one fifth of the overall score.

Heavily weighted on aesthetics and design harmony, in which case I'd say the Renegade does score quite well. Same with the i3

No S-class coupe interior? That's the most beautiful interior this side of 200K.

Save for the NX window switches, most everything is superb inside the cabin.

Could have been a contender!

How anything American made it onto the list is beyond me

But the C class interior can be had in the lowly base C300 for 38K, a few hundred more for wood trim

Today, where a car is actually built has little bearing anymore on its true nationality....which often is scattered among several countries. The days of straight American, European, Japanese, or Korean vehicles went out decades ago.

I can see how I wrote can be misconstrued as me knocking on "American made" cars, but read it again with a pause between "American" and "made"

I dont understand how anything american (as in American branded cars), made it onto the list

OK....understood.

The main reason is that the GM and Chrysler bankrupices/reorganizations transformed both companies (Ford had already been transformed), and they simply don't make the same junk anymore than they used to...though I have to admit I wasn't impressed with the Jeep Renegade's interior. But, in general, many American-badged vehicles are now competitive where they were not in the past.

Apparently I have excellent taste. The Jeep, the GS and our new Sedona Minivan all made the Ward's list in their respective years shown with the interior colors I chose

Completely disagree with all that mess. GS needs to be in there, RLX needs to be in there. Audi is usually in there somewhere. Jaguar? most of those are cheap American ones plastic all over.
