In reality the transmission isn't bad at all. The programming in eco mode is what sucks. It causes slushy shifts and that slow throttle tip-in. Borderline dangerous is an exaggeration imo but it's certainly not as good as it should be. Eco mode is even worse in the C/GLA45 AMG models because after programming permits more throttle the car accelerates rapidly.

Exterior looks safe. Interior gives me the weeble-wobbles with the arrangement of the navi, vents, audio, climate controls and shift lever

It's even in non-Eco mode, but this thread is about the Q3 so i'll stop there.

Actually, I don't see much wrong with the interior. Though I generally prefer wood-tone or carbon-fiber, at least there's a nice strip of brushed-aluminum on the right-dash to decorate it a little, and the control layout (especially by upmarket German standards) seems simple and straightforward,

I didn't say usability suffers. The design is the detractor (for me), all the asymmetry
