Lets see what they do with the 3.5 V6 powertrain as part of this refresh, the hybrid will probably remain unchanged. Never know with Lexus the may keep even the 3.5 V6 engine unchanged

I like this update. Has much more a vibe of a baby LS to it now. The ugly "snout" (or "mustache" as pbm317 put it) on the current model is no longer as prominent in this update, and like spwolf says, it's much better integrated this time.

So GS will get full spindle for sure? I kind of like it and now second thought myself. I want to wait for the GS refresh. Kind of look similar to the new Camry's headlights. I'm glad that it does not have black lined mirrors. I do hope they don't do that to all models. It's one thing that really bugs me about the GX.

Definite improvement. The cheap "stache" above the old grille is now virtually eliminated thanks to making it chrome and part of the main grille. And everything looks much cleaner without the old "bumper" bisecting the center of the grille. Curious about the taillights, which are about as clean as it currently gets.

First, the moldings probably aren't as ugly as door dings. Second, a number of vehicles, particularly from GM and Subaru, are bringing the moldings back as options or dealer-accessories. Or, one can do like me.......simply put one on themselves, as some types are available aftermarket.

I actually disagree. Door dings are a quick $90 fix, and if you park carefully they're not that big an issue.

I don't see any practical reason to change it. It's a smooth, quiet, refined, reliable, reasonably powerful drivetrain....probably the car's best remaining overall feature. Why dump it? There's an old saying......if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

True, but some bozos will often find a way to ding, no matter how careful you are. And not all of us have the luxury of a garage or large driveway to park in at night to keep the car away from neighborhood kids and their bikes, skateboards, tree-nuts falling, etc.... Car covers can help, but they can abrade the paint (where's that SCRATCH OUT) , trap moisture, and can be a PITA getting them on and off.

And they will do so if you have those ugly door moldings on there too.

None of which will be helped by the ugly door moldings

Interesting shapes going on with the front bumper and lights. I like it. Looks much less pedestrian than the pre-refresh model. I've always thought the shape of the latest ES is pretty cool. This front end should go nicely with the rest of the car.

Agree. My Camry has the same powertrain and I really like it.

I was just discussing since the RX is getting an updated version of the same engine with 300 hp which until now has shared its powertrain with the Camry / ES. So you are right, there may be no practical need, but a Camry with 300 hp will be the ultimate sleeper 😉
