Probably just about any Lexus product except the GS300AWD, which Consumer Reports said to avoid. Also, older versions of the 3.0L V6 were prone to sludge, gel, and failure from negligent oil changes.

Let's not forget about the carbon build up issue of the 2.5L V6 found in the IS. Not a great engine

What are your needs? Just a sedan, or you want an SUV? The SC would be the frivolous one, but you'll look good riding it...

if you get an ES or RX with the 2GR-FE V6, make sure it had the recalled hoses replaced

2006 LS430...last year of the model. The best. the most reliable ones don't have air suspension (any other than the ultra luxury UL models). The less options the less to break! skip the NAV screen models if you want it bulletproof.

Conservative drivers are partially responsible. If they would floor it every now and then, cases of carbon build-up would diminish

Who knows...dont worry about it. The IS is a small car though compared to the LS. Go test drive one to make sure you're okay with the size. I personally love it. And it has one of the best turning radius' of any large car on the market....it's super maneuverable.

There is a cracking dashboard recall on some models in that date range.

My 2006 IS 250 has been rock solid for ~105k miles. No issues with carbon build up, creaks, dashboard melting, etc. Really solid car for the past ~8.5 years for me. Lexus has impressed me; so much so that a used RX will likely be my next ride
