There's a TON of leg room for stretching out in the from passenger seat.

It's growing on me. Had a Maxima in the mid 90's and loved it but I think I've moved on. Still, it's starting to look good.

NISSAN MAXIMA SR MIDNIGHT BLACK EDITION

ONCE YOU GO BLACK, YOU CAN NEVER GO BACK

In any case, for me, this Black Edition treatment takes an already awesome car to a level beyond perfection.

HOT DAMN

You never go back to black because you realize what a pain a black car is to maintain and to make it look good. Once you've invested all that effort, you drive it for 30 seconds and it's back to being dirty. I'll leave black cars to the photos and those that never drive their cars. (Drives a black C6 Corvette)

30 seconds that long ??? In the Spring when the pollen is everywhere and makes ever vehicle have that shade of green .............. you'll go nuts thus why I've avoided Black for so long.

Not for nothing when it's newly detailed and then IN the garage hhmmmmm WOW

I'm starting to like the new design... much better than the previous model.. Thank God Nissan got rid of the square front end and crappy looking grill.... 300Hp with a new designed engine can't be all that bad... does Mike have this on his list for review?

^ I am truly amazed that people are shooting off that a CVT can't handle this or that.

A LS600h is a V8 AWD electric and has a CVT.

Here's what C&D had to say about the CVT in the new Maxima after their initial drive:

"That’s a stretch given the CVT living between the 300-hp 3.5-liter V-6 and the front wheels, but after a day’s drive near Nissan’s Nashville headquarters, we came away impressed by the effort bestowed upon the brand’s flagship. In spite of the gearless transmission, there’s plenty of fun and four-door utility available here for between $30,000 and $40,000"

The Lexus 'eCVT' tends to be more robust though, utilizing a dual planetary gear set vs Nissan pulley.

Sulu, the Ls600h has a V8, AWD, weighs 5119lbs, an electric motor and has a CVT.

The GS400h also has a CVT.
The RX400h also has a CVT.

A truck CVT could be done. It just has to be engineered that way.

Not sure how this got into the wrong thread. Sorry folks.

The new Maximas are on the road already. I saw one from the rear 3/4 view that looked good. I'm just not sold on that grille yet.

Maybe I'm old school, but personally I don't like all these new style "Diamond-Cut Finish Wheels" at all:

ones that have big blocky large cut surfaces to them... so many cars have this style of wheels now...

Those are the only wheels that will work on big blocky sedans like the Maxima.
