Does Lexus offer automatic braking that can bring the vehicle to a complete stop if an imminent collision is detected? This feature gets activated automatically without the driver touching brake pedal. i think only a handful of brands offer this. Not sure if it's available on Lexus vehicles.

Doesn't the A-PCS system on the LS offer this feature?

Most Lexus and Toyota vehicles with PCS will offer autonomous braking but the level of braking varies by vehicle (some can bring the vehicle to a complete stop before hitting the object, others can only reduce the speed of impact so you will still hit the object but at a much lower speed). The level of braking also depends on your travelling speed.

Lastly, I'm not aware of any North American spec Toyota or Lexus vehicles with low-speed braking (like Volvo's CitySafety system). PCS is designed for speeds above 15km/h. It is coming down the pipeline.

yes, most of Lexus vehicles have this as an option... more advanced systems are coming this year. IIHS is rating these so you can see their effectiveness. As Nextourer mentioned, Toyota/Lexus is introducing these to every vehicle within next year, for low price and that system is going to be most advanced.

Based on what I have read the PCS and A-PCS prep the car and you for the impact. They don't apply full brake power to stop the car. am I not right?

if we are talking about 2015 models, they do... some more, some less, but they all apply braking at some point.... newer models do more, like RC and NX, they will stop the crash in low speed situations... LS is the best.

In any case, by the end of the year, with MY2016, most of them will have new system that will work at all speeds.

The NX will do a full stop when speeds are above 50 kph.

it also does full stop at 12mph as tested by IIHS.

New systems from later on this year will do 10-80kmh and 10-unlimited, depending on price of the vehicle.

From what i have been reading around the web, they will have this feature on the 2016 Land Cruiser so i would naturally assume the LX will have it too. Part of the Safety sense package.

pretty much every Toyota will have it as option or standard... in Europe, upcoming Auris has it as option that costs only $500 (cheaper than Toyota parking sensors they sell here) and Avensis has it standard on every car... in some countries it is standard on Auris as well.

Just to be clear rrueizhig and BrickHead, you both are talking about bringing a car to a complete stop, not just simply braking, right? Cause the PCS will apply full braking power, the difference is whether it'll stop before it hits the object or not and that depends on how fast you're travelling and how advanced the PCS is on your car.

The 2nd video shows the PCS with pedestrian avoidance collision that works up to 40km/h without hitting the pedestrian. Above that, you'll hit the object (person) but at a much lower speed.
