Also OP- make sure whatever ILX you buy doesn't have the problems listed in this thread:

Sounds like some early adopters are suffering from programming issues. Don't know how widespread this is.

Given that the OP is doing high miles I think a lot of people are putting reliability over comfort. But I can't stress enough how NVH on the highway isn't the ILX's strong suit. Why drive around with all that racket day in and day out?
What are you talking about? The GTI can be equipped with:
12-way power seat
dual zone climate control
rain sensing wipers
panoramic sunroof
rear view camera
Keyless access
dynamic chassis control
forward collision warning
tilt/telescopic wheel
Home Link mirror
So in other words the GTI can be well equipped.

The ILX has more luxury features that are nice when driving just under 2k miles a month he drives.
Longer warranty too.

Longer warranty is nice, increased NVH on a highway drive is not. I'm not saying the ILX is worthless but what I am saying is the OP really needs to test drive both and see what really matters.
Truthfully if I was the OP I would be looking at a very well equipped Honda Accord/Mazda 6/Nissan Altima/Kia Optima if I really wanted to get the best deal at this price.

5 out of the 13 items you listed can be found in the GTI; the GTI has a few items that aren't available on the ILX (panoramic sunroof, dynamic chassis control, more power, front/rear proximity sensors) that are just as good on the 2k miles the OP drives. The GTI does have a rear view camera and xenon lights vs. LED's/multi view camera, so it those additional two items aren't a huge compromise then OP is good there too. I'd also like to note that the ILX's LED headlights don't move to illuminate corners like the GTI's xenons.

I agree on the other car choices over both..
