Scion iA Announced as Brand’s First Sedan
A brand dedicated to quirky niche models, Scion is now preparing to launch its first ever sedan.
The Toyota division is teasing the new four-door as well as a new compact hatchback, both of which will debut at the 2015 New York Auto Show.
The all-new iA will be the first sedan in Scion’s lineup and will be based on the Mazda 2 sedan. Scion will also pull the sheet off the iM, a hatchback that’s based o the European Toyota Auris.
Scion is aiming both cars at young buyers with aggressive styling that can be seen in the teaser images.
Both the iA and iM will be revealed on March 31, 2015, the eve of the New York Auto Show.

The previous version of the Yaris, with its (IMO) silly center-stack gauges, was much different inside than the Mazda2. That is much less the case now, since the latest Yaris has a conventional (and IMO proper) set of gauges behind the steering wheel where it belongs.

For instance iM and Corolla have much more in common and they are still being sold next to each other.
It seems they are looking at this to double Scion sales.

Some interesting potential differences... It seems that Toyota Canada has announced the re-introduction of the Yaris Sedan, which we have not had for 2 years now (it overlapped the generation change, from the last-gen Yaris Hatchback to the current-gen Hatchback), but it is using the same teaser image as the one above (the one with the Scion logo on it); the teaser image provided on the Canadian Autos.ca website is the same but with a Toyota sombrero logo.

We’re teasing right back, of course, playing to the Yaris’ reputation as a boring-but-sensible car; one-class-up cars like Toyota’s own Corolla, the Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra are much stronger sellers on average, but we buy more subcompacts than our American friends, making cars like the Yaris important ones north of the 49th. In 2014, the Yaris was actually one of the slower-selling models in its class, but we suspect the addition of a sedan will improve its numbers.
In the new Yaris sedan, we’re promised “bold, aggressive styling and premium features” in an efficient, nimble package; what that photo makes clear is the sedan will get unique front-end styling to set it apart from its hatchback linemate—in addition to the obvious substitution of trunk for rear hatch.
There are no specs to go along with the first image of the new car, but we expect that, like the old Yaris sedan (it was discontinued in 2013), this one will ride on a longer wheelbase than the hatchback model, making its rear seat notably roomier. Look for the trunk, too, to be larger than the hatch’s cargo tiny cargo area.

I don't think the Vios is suitable for the Western world. It is for ASEAN markets. Or maybe it is just cheaper to get them from a Mexican plant than move them all around the world :P
