Is Lexus Going to Make a More Affordable Car? Should it?
A Lexus is many things: quiet, luxurious, impeccably well built -- just to name a few. But a Lexus is never cheap, right? Well, that may be changing soon, after the introduction of the LF-SA concept car at Geneva.

I feel like, with the starting prices of the CT ($32,200) and the NX ($34,480) the cost of entry into Lexus is plenty low.

"We could go down and build a car under $30,000, but it would be decontented, and you'd be cutting corners. It wouldn't be a Lexus," Mark Templin, Lexus International's executive vice president, told Automotive News.
"To be honest with you, you can't build a Lexus with the quality, the durability, the reliability, the craftsmanship, the content that we put in a Lexus and sell it profitably under $30,000. You just can't do it," he said.

If Mercedes and others do it, then Lexus should follow.

not so sure I would call tiny car that will likely go for $30k a cheap car... small does not mean cheap - i would think people in car industry at least would realize this, even if US audience does not.
This is something like Mini or A1 competitor for markets that needs and accepts small luxurious vehicles... I have always said iQ should have been a Lexus... tiny bit better materials and small turbo, it would get completely different perception.
Toyota now has 1.2l Turbo engine that could fit in there and be pretty fast. Of course, lets make it a bit bigger and have decent space for 4 inside, no need for it to be so tiny but rather make it Yaris sized but more space.

Lexus should focus on the high end of $100k+
It has no cars in that segment.
BMW MB Audi Jaguar Porsche has plenty of cars.
Lexus is lacking big time in true Luxury vehicles.
New LS cant come soon enough......

i think Lexus is cheap enough, especially when you consider that some Camrys, Avalons, and other Toyotas can cost more than some Lexus models. A fully loaded Sienna can cost as much as some IS350s

I have to agree - build enough low end cars and that's what you become known for. Lexus should aim for the high end of the market and leave the bottom end to Toyota.
