the bbc recently made it a duty of the producers to arrange the catering for the show, enter oisin tymon. it was his fault there was no food, and if you're dealing with a hungry, tired, drunk jeremy clarkson, the last thing you want is for him not to get the steak he was looking forward to.
I read this on another forum today and it was the first I heard about it. We'll probably never know the exact facts and chain of events, but it is interesting that this aspect of it wasn't more widely reported.

You'll enjoy your car a lot more if you stop caring about what other people say about it.

Outside of Motorweek's John Davis (a really nice guy), and Road & Track's Peter Egan (another fairly nice guy)....what big-time auto reviewer doesn't? I'll admit, though, that Clarkson's sometimes pushes the envelope.

Clarkson is on another level. I always knew it too and honestly thought to myself several times I bet this guy is a real a@@hole to be around.

Yes, he's gone, not unexpected. Much as I like Clarkson it was probably inevitable.

Rumours were that Chris Evans was being lined up to replace him, which would not have been a bad choice - he's a petrolhead with a collection of Ferraris which he regularly loans out to raise money for charity - however he's ruled himself out.

My no.1 choice would be Alan Partridge (aka Steve Coogan). That chats with the SIARPC would be superb.

They need to kill the show.

It's his show. He made it what it is. He carried it(not to detract from May or Hammond, who are both excellent presenters). No Clarkson, no Top Gear.

Can we add a poll for the replacement?

I vote for Shmee, the young guy in the UK who seems to have amazing access to all sorts of exotic cars.

You're right in as much as the BBC bought the rights back off Clarkson so he no longer owns it, but BrettJacks is also right in as much as he made the show - Top Gear was dead and buried before he revived it in 2003.

Agreed, he made it what it is. Good luck to them from here on out.
