Default Hyundai Details its New Twin-Turbocharged 3.3-Liter V6 Engine

The new Hyundai V6 Turbo GDi has a pair of some of the smallest-looking turbochargers feeding it extra air. Perhaps that’s the reason why the new 3.3-liter unit only makes 27 more horsepower than the non-turbo 3.8-liter, although torque is up noticeably more: 379 lb-ft vs 295 lb-ft (513 Nm vs 400 Nm).

The information was shared over on the KoreanCarBlog, with photos provided by Blood Type Racing.

When it comes to features, the engine has intelligent variable valve timing and generally promises high performance and high fuel efficiency too.

The unit will probably be made available on the Genesis line of cars – the current sedan and next-gen coupe.

Scroll down to check out photos of the engine – do keep an eye out for those minute turbochargers; aren’t they the smallest you’ve ever seen?

Good for Hyundai, though those turbo's are small (baby turbo's)...hopefully we see a future V6 TT from Toyota/Lexus sometime soon.

Small turbos to boost low end torque and eliminate lag basically. Wonder if Toyota will go back to or other manufacturers go to sequential turbos to boost top end torque while maintaining low end power.

Those numbers look achievable. The Mercedes C400 makes 329 hp @ 5,250-6,000 RPM and 354 lb-ft @ 1,600-4,000 rpm from just a 3.0L.

Yes, sadly this is due to the relentless cost cutting Toyota has been undertaking ever since Akio took over..

I've been impressed with Hyundai lately. They are coming out with great looking cars and motors. Next time I go car shopping I will "definitely" look at Hyundais when cross shopping.

+1 Saw a Genesis in black yesterday and I almost broke my neck whipping around trying to catch another glimpse. It's a sleek looking sedan.
