Arrow 07 ES 350 or 06 GS 300 AWD

Ok i have had my mind set on a 2007 Lexus ES 350 for some time now and even came across some good deals on some with low mileage but was a little spooked after learning while doing research that those models were among the ones which supposedly were affected by the "unintended acceleration" debacle. Is that a legit concern or a super duper rarity.

I now am also considering a 2006 Lexus GS 300 AWD with 100,00 miles that i have recently come across and wanted to get you guys/gals opinions on the two different models..,pros/cons etc. Thanks Lexus owners!!

btw this will be my first Lexus

Welcome to CL as a new poster....and a (possible) Lexus owner.
Since you live in FL and probably won't need AWD, I'd go with the ES. According to Consumer Reports, it will (probably) be more reliable overall than the AWD GS of that vintage. I wouldn't be terribly concerned about the runaway-acceleration issue. Most of the (possible) cars affected have already been recalled and dealt with.

GS is much better car than the ES - it is sport sedan with much more luxurious interior and RWD based platform... neither wll have any "unintended acceleration" issues, just dont stack 3 different mats on top of each other.

I would pick ES only if you need to carry 3 adults in the back frequently... Otherwise, I would never pick ES over GS.

How many miles are on the ES? I like the GS, but 100k miles is still 100k miles.

I've been looking into the GS of that vintage recently, and the 3.0 in that is plagued with carbon problems and *if i remember correctly, oil burning*. I'd keep looking for an ES.

Personally, I like the style of the GS better than the ES. The ES is a nice car, but a little cushy for my personal taste. But the mileage question is a good one--if the difference is significant, I might go with the ES. The unintended acceleration was driver error/improperly placed floor mats.

in terms of the drive / fun, the gs is better. if you only care about comfort, the es is better

my problem with the gs is the 300, i would try to get a gs350 instead.

Nope. Just did another search to make sure I wasn't mistaken.

Search "gs300 burning oil" in the third generation GS section.

GS350 burns oil also. Mine is an 07 with 130K and it goes through almost 1 quart every 1k miles. I've asked Lexus about this and they say its "acceptable".

Consumer Reports, for several years, did not recommend the 1Gen GS300AWD because of reliability issues. However, they did recommended virtually every other Lexus model....so, I don't think they were just singling out the 1Gen AWD for nothing.

1 qt every 1k miles?! damn that can't be normal.

even my m3 didn't burn as much oil..

i don't think old school gs300 or gs430/ls430 burns oil that fast either

as mentioned numerous times before, they singled it out due to Mark Levinson audio system... and they did it for GS350 AWD.

which never made sense, since it is same ML as in RWD.
