so do you think the rx350 is 'silly' also? it's lexus' best seller by far.

so do you think all rx350 buyers should be buying vans instead?
bitkahuna, see my posts, yes Americans love SUV/CUV, they love trucks too. You are an American, so you feel the same way. Asians in general, feel the opposite.

if they need the cargo space? yes if we are talking about "making sense" point of view imho

i can truly say for us, we got suv because we need more than 5 seats and space, and we just don't like the minivan styling here in the US, so larger suv is our only choice

if they had brought over the alphard or vellfire? we would have been driving it

I would buy a Lexus van over the RX if available, much more versatile and it's going to have a nicer interior too
SUVS are popular because trucks are popular in America I think , they look like trucks but rides better.

really, Sienna and Odyssey looks ok, the new Sedona actually looks great to me.

As bad as they might look, is still way nicer then a truck to me............that's what Uhaul is for.

good post... once again, different cultures, different preferences. Alphard and Vellfire, despite costing a lot of money, outsell complete Lexus brand in Japan.

And to me, they look a lot more pimp than Sienna.

And if Harajuku girls like it, good for them.

The Sienna and American Odyssey are measly compared to Japan-made JDM vans

For sure.

That's like comparing an S-Class to a Sonata.

As with all "crazy" new Toyota design in Japan, they are a huge sales hits.

New Alphard and new VELLFIRE orders number is, and about 42,000 units in February 25 when the hit from the announcement of January 26 a month, has become a strong rise.
42k orders in 30 days, vs 7k expected normal monthly... 22k Vellfire, 20k Alphard (Vellfire was expected to sell 30% better)... 25% hybrids, 50% for Alphard, so Alphard is likely more expensive. These two sell at Lexus prices in Japan.

Toyot says these are the reasons customers are buying:
- Large front grille to produce a bold and glamorous with evil Alphard unique, design highlights the features such as VELLFIRE seems rugged front view
- Compare favorably fine ride in luxury sedan, in addition to running stability, quietness appropriate for luxury cars
- More Intelligent Parking Assist 2 and with enhanced usability, advanced equipment, such as panoramic view monitor
- For example, to adopt a dedicated sheet widely spacious in the second seat, the new grade that can provide high satisfaction for people who ride "Executive Lounge"
