Toyota RND Concept teased ahead of January 26 reveal

Looks like a new marketing trend since Apples lack of "the next big thing", that many are still eagerly waiting. Look at McLaren new "Black Swan" marketing strategy for the Sports Series, it is beyond ridiculous for a car that is nothing else than a slightly more practical and affordable MP4-12C.

Is this another empty, unsubstantiated claim by Elon Musk, similar to ones he made about cooperation with Daimler and BMW and ...? The press just like to hang onto every word he says, don't they?
I think that the RND will be some new crossover vehicle, a sedan or coupe with racy styling, and raised undercarriage with large wheel/tire combination (seeing that CUVs are all the rage right now).

I have read that they are adding 3rd product to their Turskish plant, so that could be small SUV as you say, which it does not look like.
It certainly has nothing to do with Tesla, they already denied they had any plans for that (so did BMW).

i think so too... i just dont get how UK plays into this... I guess small is bigger market there, with some affordable price. Might also be some small and sporty based on something very unique - like what iQ did, with all new packaging format.

it has to be something suitable for EU market to be launched first in UK.
So:
- small sports car (R for Rear?)
- small SUV
- small premium iQ sucessor?
- small premium iQ successor sports car that is EV?
Anything larger than Yaris (or Auris hatch) would be launched in USA because it is much larger market for it.
