You may have liked it, but the buying public it seemed, did not. Sales were down big in 2014 vs. 2013, despite increased incentive support. So it's time for a new one.

The black paint masks a lot of the detailing, but the lower area on a LOT of vehicles is generally the same.

Way different fog lamp execution, if those are even fog lamps, might be DRL's like the new Sonata.

And hard to tell, but I don't think the Elantra in the picture has a big area where the fog lamp/DRL is located.

Not seeing the similarities.

Yes they squished it a bit. Such creativity. Much design.

That resembles nothing on the Audi. It looks like the sonata which in turn looks more subaru.

comments about one brand's car looking like another brand's car are so old and irrelevant... with aerodynamic (economy) needs, stupid regulations like european pedestrian protection (making the front ends of all vehicles so high) and design trend bandwagons which occur (designers move between car makers plus all go to the same set of schools ), it's no wonder we will always see some similarities if we look hard enough. but given the design and development time frames of these vehicles (typically at least 3 years) it's hard to see how they get to see and mimic other brand models, not to mention that car makers want to be unique usually without being bizarre (cough nissan juke).

and mr. burns, remember the last gen sonata was very polarizing because it certainly looked nothing like an accord or camry, its direct competitors. the new one is less polarizing (and doesn't seem to sell as well) just as toyota 'sported up' their camry, and the accord got more upscale looking.

so the design area is fluid, there will be similarities, but it really doesn't matter.

well, it seems to matter since their sales are not that good :-).

there's a lot more to sales than great design, as many brands have proven over and over.

Yeah it's something that's really lacking nowadays with society.

But in regards to cars, I'd say almost all cars made after 2012 are ugly.
When judging cars aesthetically nowadays you just have to find the one that is "less ugly" hahaa

Default ARK Performance Elantra Completes Hyundai's SEMA Lineup

Hyundai has been steadily teasing us with preview renderings – one apiece – for customized concepts that it's bringing to the upcoming SEMA show in Las Vegas. And now it's released the last of the four.

Developed with ARK Performance, this Road Racer concept is based on theElantra. Only as you can see, this is no ordinary econo-box. The show car announced its presence rather emphatically with a comprehensively redone widebody kit, an oversized front splitter, and a full matte vinyl wrap. But there's more to this concept beneath the surface.

ARK has fitted the Elantra with a turbo kit, blow-off valve and wastegate, custom exhaust, and a completely reworked suspension including coil-over shocks, tower brace, and front and rear anti-roll bars. They're booked up to forged alloys with Nitto rubber and an upgraded brake kit, while the interior has been refitted with diamond stitching and a custom steering wheel.

The ARK Elantra will be joined by the thousand-horsepower Santa Fe by Bisimoto, another Santa Fe off-roader outfitted by the Rockstar Performance Garage, and aVeloster racer done up by Gurnade. We're looking forward to seeing more of this quartet in Vegas, but for now you can check out the preview renderings released to date in the gallery below.
