Why Ferrari engineers don't like turbos
#16
2 seconds on the Fiorano track is actually a good margin at these kinds of speed on a 1.9 mile long track. Any faster and you'll be nearing the 950hp, 2800 lbs LaFerrari. It only has 60hp more than the 458 Speciale, so 1 second is expected. That's not bad for a 'base' model pitted against a 'race' car. I can only imagine what a 488 Speciale would be like.

This new 488 looks awesome and would be my pick over a 650S and Huracan.
Sad to see no more NA engines for Ferrari, hopefully that magical Ferrari engine noise doesnt get muted too much.
911 is next to be all turbo.....

Never like the 458, don't like the 488. Well rear is awesome the say the truth, but front does not fit with the great rear and look like Gallardo. Side profile is ugly, reason why I don't like 458. Interior is ugly like most Ferraris.
I'd take the new NSX over this, or a McLaren, though I don't like the facelift.

it's funny how fantasy meets reality. of course no one likes turbo, of course NA is great and what not. but when reality is here, when regulations are in place, and when there are politicians who care about emissions and saving the world, turbo seems to be the future whether we like it or not.
so the smart ones get ready and be ready for the game

maybe the Ferrari has electric turbo. Does not have to wait for the exhaust gases to flow though.
