Replacing the 01 Sequoia with a 2007 Infiniti QX56?
Our Sequoia with 120k is just getting old and starting to have common age issues. We are looking at a to replace it with a newer QX56 with 50k. I found a pretty killer deal on one. Its fully loaded, clean title. Only downsize is it has a tan interior, we would have prefer black. Any feedback / owner experience with this SUV. Common issues and what to look for? Thanks CL.

We had one... loved it for like 3 months then we started to really dislike it fast. It just became a lot of work to drive. When we test drove the Lexus GX and LX they were surprisingly nimble at the wheel... not so much with the QX. It's a tank and it will remind you that every time you drive it. DVD drop down was eh. Road noise in the cabin, bouncy at almost any speed and I put brand new tires. Tons of space though... can't deny that. But on an overall comfort I'd give it 5 out of 10. Think a Tahoe, Yukon, or GX460 should be considered for test drives before you buy. We also looked at the 4 runner now that I remember. All between 2006-2008 models at the time.

The build quality isn't that great IMO, and it just aging so problems are expected. It has a lot of cheap plastic that continues to break everywhere. Body panels falling off, sunroof issues, front struts, starter. Everything is fix now and it still drives good, but the SO thinks its time to move on before these issues or other issues recur / stop putting money into an old SUV .

My friend had a Tahoe, and same issues. Cheap plastic that continues to break
Thank you for your input

Had a 2007 QX56 in the family that was positively BEAT ON for 150k miles. Delayed maintenance, lots of roadtrips, etc. I must say the interior build quality of that vehicle was not good and we had some interior trim bits break but somehow that thing kept chugging. Never gave up. Watch out for really bad fuel economy, worse than its peers.
I will say I'd aim for a 2008, as they got some interior/tech upgrades.

The 08 does look nicer. But the seller is only asking $15k for the 07.

Consumer Reports gives the QX56 (now known as the Q80), especially older models, poor reliability ratings. The Canton, MS plant where it (and the Nissan Armada/Titan) is built has had a history of problems, though some of them have now been addressed.

The price range we have to work with is under $20k. All the Sequoias in our area that fall into that range either have tons of miles and or no opinions. We kinda need a back up cam because the SO's dad is kinda old and tends to back up into everything lol.

I couldn't agree more, the life of priceless cargo could be at stake all because u weren't aware they were there. Back up cam is a must in my book.
