I think that overall, you're better off with a Toyota/Lexus product and just avoid Renault altogether.

As noted earlier, this first gen QX56 scored low in reliability ratings. However for only 15k you aren't making a huge investment. Only 50k on the odometer means it might serve you well for a while. If you have issues down the road - shouldn't be hard to sell with minimal depreciation loss. If you like the vehicle after driving it, go for it.

According to this website, even the suv's from ford and GM are more reliable than the Armada/qx56

The build quality isn't that great IMO, and it just aging so problems are expected. It has a lot of cheap plastic that continues to break everywhere. Body panels falling off, sunroof issues, front struts, starter. Everything is fix now and it still drives good, but the SO thinks its time to move on before these issues or other issues recur / stop putting money into an old SUV .

Anywho, we'll just have to figure it out soon. Maybe a newer Sequoia will go on sale soon? But thanks for all the input CL

Kinda late to the convo, but I have an 08' Sequoia Limited and I love it! The powertrain is so smooth and the ride is amazing. Tons of room and it moves out down the road. At 80 mph it's turning less than 2,300 rpms.
As for the Q, I don't know much about them but I owned two early model Nissan Titan's which have the same powertrain. I never had a problem with any part of the truck and they move out well.
As for getting a Chevy or Ford, you won't find one worth it in your price point. The Tahoe would have to either be older or very high mileage. The newer Tahoe body style still have the 4 speed until like 2009 or so. You don't want the old 4-speed, crap.
Either way, good luck with your search.

According to this site, the Renault/Nissan's infamous $7000 radiator/transmission problem affects the Titan now that it has aged. So keep this in mind when shopping the Armada. Better still, just be on guard when shopping any Renault.
